The New Volkswagen T-Cross, Volvo EX30 and Hyundai Kona Arrive in Brazil to End the Reign of Rivals Toyota Corolla Cross, Jeep Compass and Chevrolet Spin

The start of 2024 has been eventful for the automotive industry, with the arrival of significant vehicles such as the Fiat Titano SUV, Renault Kardian, Chevrolet Spin and S10, Toyota Corolla Cross, as well as the Jeep Compass and Commander Hurricane equipped with the new 2.0 engines from the Ram Rampage. Check out eight SUVs that will be presented in Brazil by mid-year. Highlighting among them are the Volkswagen T-Cross 2025 and the electric Volvo EX30.

Autoesporte revealed a list of eight more SUVs that will be launched by the end of the first half in Brazil.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer 2025 was unveiled last week and is already on its way to dealerships. The new version of the SUV, called High Country, replaces the previous Premier. Under the hood, it continues with the 2.8 turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, now adjusted to provide 207 hp (7 hp more) and 52 kgfm of torque, similar to the adjustment made in the S10.

The SUV also received a new eight-speed automatic transmission from the Colorado and maintains the 4×4 traction with low range. Additional details about the equipment list are available for consultation.

Hyundai Kona Arrives in June and Marks the First Launch of the Brand After Assuming Full Control of Operations in Brazil

The second generation of the Hyundai Kona marks the first launch of the brand after assuming full control of operations in Brazil, which were previously managed by Caoa. The arrival at dealerships is expected in June, according to information from Autoesporte. The SUV’s design is futuristic, with an LED strip that spans the entire front of the vehicle at the hood height, and the headlights are positioned at the ends of the bumper.

The engine of this SUV is the same used in the Kia Niro: a 1.6 naturally aspirated engine complemented by an electric motor. Together, they offer a combined power of 140 hp and a torque of 27 kgfm. There are also fully electric options, where the entry-level configuration delivers 156 hp and the advanced one reaches 218 hp. Their respective ranges, measured by the European WLTP cycle, are 377 km and 514 km, although lower figures are expected in Brazil.

Volkswagen T-Cross Arrives This May in Brazil

The redesigned Volkswagen T-Cross is scheduled to be launched in mid-May. Apparently, the design of the Brazilian SUV will only be similar to the simpler versions of the European model, which have been available since 2023. The rear lights will feature a “C” shaped LED illumination instead of an “X,” as seen in the more elaborate versions. The vehicle will also present a new grille and front bumper, with an LED bar similar to the Taos and Polo GTS models.

Although the design of the new Volkswagen SUV has been updated after five years, the engine options for the compact SUV will remain the same. The T-Cross 2025 will continue to offer the 1.0 and 1.4 turbo engines, producing 128 hp and 150 hp, respectively. The model features a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Currently, the T-Cross is offered in four configurations that will likely be retained in the redesigned version: Sense 200 TSI (R$ 119.890), 200 TSI (R$ 142.990), Comfortline (R$ 160.990) and Highline 250 TSI (R$ 175.990). It is likely that the prices of the SUV will increase in the 2025 line.

Peugeot 2008 with Internal Combustion Engines Will Be Produced in Argentina and Promises to Arrive in June

The new generation of the Peugeot 2008, currently sold in Brazil exclusively in the electric version, will also be available with internal combustion engines and will be produced in Argentina, instead of Porto Real (RJ), as with the previous generation. The engines of this SUV will all be from Fiat, always turbo and with direct fuel injection. The arrival is scheduled for June.

The engine is a 1.0 turboflex that can reach 130 hp and 20.4 kgfm of torque, accompanied by a CVT transmission with seven simulated gears. A 1.3 turboflex engine of up to 185 hp and 27.5 kgfm of torque may also be offered.

Kia EV9: The Giant of 5.01 Meters Arrives with 246 hp

The Kia EV9 is an SUV that impresses with its size, measuring 5.01 meters in length and capable of accommodating up to seven occupants. It offers three engine options: the entry-level with rear-wheel drive and an engine providing 203 hp and 35.7 kgfm of torque. The 99.8 kWh battery provides a range of up to 563 km, according to the WLTP cycle, and the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds.

The other versions of the SUV have all-wheel drive and feature two motors, one on each axle. These options offer 247 hp, but with torques varying between 25.5 kgfm and 35.7 kgfm. The ranges of these configurations are 512 km and 505 km, respectively. A decision on which version will be imported to Brazil has not yet been made.

Volvo EX30: Compact Electric SUV Arrives This Month Offering a Range of 338 km

The compact electric SUV Volvo EX30 was launched for pre-sale in Brazil last year and is available in three versions, with prices ranging from R$ 229.950 to R$ 293.950. The vehicle is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery of 51 kWh that powers a rear electric motor, providing 276 hp and 34.9 kgfm of torque. The claimed range is 350 km in the European cycle, while Inmetro indicates 250 km.

In the mid-range and top versions, the Volvo EX30 will include the nickel-cobalt-manganese (NMC) battery of 69 kWh, offering a range of 338 km. The SUV’s arrival is scheduled for this month of May.

BMW X2 “Arrives Arriving” with a 2.0 Turbo Gasoline Engine that Produces Up to 317 hp

The BMW X2, unveiled last October, is expected to arrive in the Brazilian market by the end of June. Now configured as the brand’s entry-level coupe SUV, it represents a sportier option compared to the X1.

The SUV comes in three engine variations: a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine producing up to 317 hp and 40.8 kgfm of torque; an electric version with two electric motors delivering a combined 317 hp and 50.4 kgfm; and a mild hybrid option with 48V that adds 19 hp to the 1.5 engine of 156 hp. Prices will be higher than those of the X1, which currently range between R$ 299.950 and R$ 354.950.

Mini Countryman Electric: The Most Robust Version of the Cooper Promises to Reach 310 hp and a Range of Up to 465 km

Mini is preparing to launch new generations of both the Cooper and the Countryman SUV — both electric — for the first semester of 2024 in Brazil. With a reworked aesthetic, the hatch maintains its traditional rounded lines, while the SUV adopts a more angular design, with sharper headlights and taillights.

The Cooper offers power versions of 184 hp or 218 hp, with ranges varying between 305 km and 400 km, according to the WLTP cycle. The base Countryman comes with 203 hp, but the more robust version can reach 310 hp, and the range can hit up to 465 km.
