Petrobras Hires Fugro for Three Years for Inspection, Repair, and Submarine Maintenance Services

Petrobras awarded Fugro a three-year contract for inspection, repair, and maintenance services (IRM) in Brazil. The contract is set to start in the fourth quarter of 2021 and will be executed from the Fugro Aquarius, using two remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) of working class 3000 meters, built by Fugro.

The maintenance grant between Petrobras and Fugro follows the completion of a previous four-year contract for similar services aboard the same vessel. During the previous contract, Fugro stated that it conducted over 20,000 hours of successful ROV operations for Petrobras, helping to unlock geo-data insights about the condition of existing assets and the surrounding environment for oil and gas operations.

Rogério Carvalho, country manager of Fugro Brazil, says that the company is very pleased to receive this latest maintenance contract, which once again demonstrates our commitment to customer focus. Our proven delivery excellence, along with the fuel efficiency of the Fugro Aquarius, allowed us to present a highly competitive commercial offer meeting all technical requirements of the bid, says Rogério.

The Fugro executive also emphasizes that they expect to continue the success with Petrobras under this new contract and consolidate the company’s position in the Brazilian ROV IRM market, which nearly doubled in capacity last year.
