3-year-old girl finds 3.800-year-old scarab seal in Tel Azekah, Israel. The archaeological discovery surprises experts and reinforces the importance of the site linked to the biblical clash between David and Goliath.

An impressive discovery was made in Tel Azekah, the region where, according to the Bible, David fought Goliath. The piece found is almost 4 thousand years old and surprised even the most experienced archaeologists.

Can you imagine literally stumbling upon an artifact dating back to the Bronze Age while hiking with your family? Well, that's exactly what happened to little Ziv Nitzan, just 3 years, during a tour of the archaeological site of Tel Azekah, in Israel. What seemed to be just another stone among thousands turned out to be a archaeological discovery that is causing a stir: one scarab seal with approximately 3.800 years, used as an amulet by ancient civilizations.

According to Omer Nitzan, Ziv’s older sister, “out of the 7 stones around, she picked just that one.” When the family cleaned off the dust, they realized that the object had something special. The discovery was immediately handed over to the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), who confirmed his authenticity and classified it as a Canaanite scarab with Egyptian influence, according to the renowned archaeologist Daphna Ben-Tor, curator at the Israel Museum.

“These seals were not simple ornaments. They symbolized status, power and religiosity. In Ancient Egypt, the scarab was a symbol of renewal and divine manifestation on Earth,” explained Ben-Tor.

A archaeological discovery rekindles interest in Tel Azekah, one of the most important sites in Israel and the scene of excavations that have already revealed structures from the Kingdom of Judah. It is precisely in this region that, according to the Old Testament, David faced Goliath — that is, the place is loaded with historical and religious significance.

As if this feat were not enough, little Ziv was also honored with a exemplary citizenship certificate, awarded to those who contribute significantly to the preservation of the country's history. A more than fair way of recognizing that, even without knowing it, she starred in one of the most symbolic archaeological discoveries of the year.

Now the question remains: how many others archaeological discoveries How can these be hidden under our feet, just waiting for the curious gaze of someone attentive?

And you, what would you do if you found something like this on a common trail?
