The Case Involves Two Homeless People Who Used A Stolen Card To Buy A Winning Scratch-Off For Half A Million Euros. Despite The Unexpected Stroke Of Luck, The Prize Remained Blocked And No One Was Able To Collect The Amount.

A man from Toulouse, France, had his backpack stolen in the city center. Inside it were his wallet and credit card, items he tried to recover to avoid the hassle of replacing all the documentation.

During this search, however, he discovered an unexpected turn of events related to the use of the stolen card.

Two individuals, apparently homeless, used the card to make a contactless payment at a bar and purchased an instant lottery ticket that turned out to be a winner, according to the newspaper Le Parisien.

Jackpot Remains Unclaimed Since February

The manager of the tobacco shop reported to the newspaper that the two men won the top prize of € 500,000, the maximum amount offered in the scratch-off.

To collect the amount, it would be necessary to go to the bank, which did not happen. Since February, the money has remained stagnant because the prize was never claimed.

One possibility is that the two were fearful of approaching the lottery, and being detained, since the ticket was purchased with a stolen bank card.

Police Warns And Victim Seeks Agreement

According to the police, if the two individuals are found, neither of them will be able to collect the € 500,000. In this scenario, the authorities will confiscate the amount.

The victim stated that he would like to reach an understanding with the two homeless individuals.

He declared that he intends to split the prize, emphasizing that without their involuntary participation, the ticket would not exist.
