On a Trade Mission, the Port of Rio de Janeiro Welcomes Visit from Saudi Delegation

In Search of Business Opportunities in Brazil, Foreign Visitors Obtained Valuable Information About the Port Sector in Rio de Janeiro.

The Board of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) visited the Port of Rio de Janeiro on Monday (14), on a business mission. The delegation was received by the Director of Market Relations and Planning of the Port Authority of Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), Jean Paulo Castro e Silva, along with members of his team and the superintendents of the Port of Rio de Janeiro and the Port Authority.

In search of business opportunities in Brazil, MODON’s General Director, Khalid AlSalem, gave a brief explanation of the Saudi authority, which is responsible for the planning, development, operation, and supervision of industrial cities in Saudi Arabia. He also told those present that they offer a range of incentives, integrated services, and state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure for their partners.

The CDRJ Director, Jean Paulo, explained to the foreign visitors how the port sector works in Brazil, and then the Planning and Port Development Manager, Eduardo Miguez, gave a presentation on the Ports of Rio de Janeiro and Itaguaí, covering the characteristics of the leased terminals, the areas available for leasing, data on cargo movement, and foreign trade.

During the lecture, Miguez also discussed ongoing projects to accommodate larger ships at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, such as the new signaling of the Cotunduba Channel, the expansion and dredging of the Gamboa Wharf, and the implementation of dynamic draft. The terrestrial and waterway access control systems like VTMIS, which is in the implementation phase, were also mentioned.

Before the visit to the dock of the Port of Rio de Janeiro to see the port facilities in person, the MODON directors also got to know the Port Security Command and Control Center (CCCSP), where the meeting took place.
