Program in Sorocaba Offers 35 Spots with Full Scholarship to Train Aircraft Maintenance Mechanics (MMA) and Seeks Diversity of Talent.
The future of the Brazilian aviation sector is open for new talent registrations. Embraer, one of the largest aerospace manufacturers in the world, has just launched the selection process for the Aircraft Maintenance Mechanics (MMA) training course. Based on the Embraer Notice published in November 2025, the program offers 35 spots for free training in the city of Sorocaba (SP), aiming to qualify professionals capable of working in the maintenance, inspection, and application of technical knowledge in aircraft, following the rigorous ANAC standards (RBAC 141).
The initiative represents a strategic investment in the development of highly specialized labor for the national market, with the notable characteristic of being a Community Scholarship program. The course, which is scheduled to begin in January 2026, is fully funded by Embraer for the approved candidates, requiring daily and in-person commitment from students. This opportunity is particularly relevant as it serves as an entry portal to one of the most promising and essential careers in aviation.
Who Can Participate in the Free Training and Where Does the Course Take Place?
The selection process, detailed in the Embraer Notice, imposes clear eligibility criteria to guarantee the geographic and social focus of the investment. The free training is intended for candidates who have completed high school and are 18 years old by October 2025.

The Federal Institute offers more than 500 vacancies in free technical courses in Construction, Electrical Engineering, Nursing, Mechanics, Chemistry, Occupational Safety, and much more; the opportunities are offered by IFFluminense, in RJ.
In addition to the basic requirements, there is an important geographic restriction: candidates must be residents of the cities of Araçoiaba da Serra, Boituva, Itu, Mairinque, São Roque, Sorocaba, or Votorantim, and must provide proof of residence. Another fundamental rule is that the candidate must not have previously worked at Embraer.
The course, with in-person classes, will take place at 14 BIS, located on Avenida Santos Dumont in Sorocaba. The class will be night, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and will be limited to 35 students. It is important to note that, of the total spots, 12 will be allocated to underrepresented social groups, specifically women and black individuals, in an effort to enhance diversity in the field.
How Long Does the Course Last and What Content is Covered?
The complete training of an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic (MMA) covers three specialties (Cell, Powerplant, and Avionics), but the Embraer scholarship program is focused on the Basic Module, a fundamental and mandatory step for all careers.
The module sponsored by Embraer will last five months, valid until April 2026, totaling 560 hours of class (about 140 useful days with 4 hours per day). The theoretical subjects of this foundation are crucial and include: Mathematics, Physics, and Aircraft Drawing, Basic Aircraft Knowledge, Basic Electricity, Hand Tools, Metrology, and the very important topic of Human Factors in Aviation and Operational Safety. The goal is to train a professional capable of applying scientific and technological knowledge in aircraft maintenance.
Why Participate: Risks and Rewards of the Embraer Scholar
Participation in the free training program from Embraer is a significant investment in the student’s potential but comes with some important responsibilities that the candidate should be aware of, as stated in the Embraer Notice.
The main reward is the high-level training in a cutting-edge sector. However, Embraer does not guarantee a job offer at the end of the course. The student’s greater responsibility arises if they are approved in the course and subsequently receive a job offer or an invitation for an internal selection process at Embraer: in this scenario, the student must accept, and it is expected that they work at the company for at least two years. If the student declines the position, they will be subject to reimbursement of all the investment made by the company. If the student completes the course and Embraer does not offer them a position, no reimbursement obligation arises, ensuring peace of mind for the graduate.
The Selection Process: Limited Registrations and Evaluation Stages
The MMA selection process is completely free and follows a rigorous and well-defined schedule in the Embraer Notice. The spots for participating in the selection process are limited to 350 candidates, and the selection to advance through the stages will be by registration order, provided the mandatory requirements are met.
- Registrations: Occur from November 6, 2025, to November 16, 2025, exclusively through the GUPY platform. The timeline is short, and the limited spots require prompt action from interested individuals.
- Technical Exam: The exam will be in-person, on November 29, 2025, and will cover Logical-Mathematical Reasoning, Text Interpretation, and Basic English. A minimum score of 50% is mandatory. Only the 50 candidates with the highest scores will be pre-approved and called for the next phase on December 2, 2025.
- Interview: The second phase is a decisive online interview with the 50 selected candidates, respecting the reserved spots for underrepresented social groups. The candidate will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves, discuss their background, and justify their interest in the program.
- Enrollment: The announcement of the approved candidates will be on December 12, 2025, and enrollment (with document verification) will take place on January 7 and 8, 2026.
Is the Risk of Employment Commitment Worth It?
For those who dream of being part of an aerospace giant like Embraer and live in the Sorocaba region, the answer is affirmative, but with caveats. This is a free and comprehensive training in the Basic Module, which is the backbone of the Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic career. The costs of this training in the open market can be substantial.
The main point of concern, the reimbursement commitment, only materializes if the student drops out of the course before completion or if they refuse a potential job offer after graduation. For a professional whose career goal is aviation, the risk is mitigated by the opportunity to have a high-standard qualification endorsed by Embraer and a potential pathway to employment within the company. The transparency of the Embraer Notice regarding the commitment rules allows the candidate to make an informed choice about this great development opportunity.
Do you think that the work commitment for 2 years, if Embraer offers a position, is a fair price for high-level free professional qualification? Do you believe that this free training initiative positively impacts your community? Leave your opinion and questions in the comments; we want to hear from those living this reality in practice.
