The Mondi Energy Project Aims To Use The Solar Energy Collector To Convert Rays Into Heat Later Used In Processes Of The National Industry. Embrapii Is Giving Support To The Startup For The Development Of The Enterprise.
The Brazilian Company for Research and Industrial Innovation (EMBRAPII) and IFSC/USP — Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo, in São Carlos (SP), are on this Tuesday, (11/15), supporting another project for renewable energies in Brazil. This involves the initiative of solar energy collectors from the startup Mondi Energy. Their function is to collect solar rays and convert them into heat to replace the consumption of fossil fuels in the operations of the Brazilian industry.
Solar Energy Collectors May Be The Future Of Sustainability In The National Industrial Sector, Says Startup Mondi Energy
The search for new technologies and innovations in the national industrial sector is one of the main focuses of renewable energy companies in Brazil.
Now, the startup Mondi Energy has presented a viable solution for replacing the consumption of fossil fuels in the processes of heating fluids in the industry.
-
Researchers in Sydney create hydrogen using solar light directly from the sea, revealing an advancement in renewable energy that promises to cut emissions and revolutionize clean fuel production worldwide.
-
Solar energy at Itaipu could double the plant’s capacity and increase clean generation in Brazil.
-
After 14 years of construction and a diplomatic crisis that nearly led to a military confrontation over control of the Nile, Ethiopia inaugurated the largest hydroelectric power plant in Africa — the dam is 170 meters high, holds 74 billion cubic meters of water, and generates 5,150 megawatts.
-
Brazil strengthens partnership with Germany and directs billion-dollar investment to green hydrogen in the Northeast, boosting energy innovation, increasing industrial competitiveness, and consolidating real opportunities for regional sustainable development.
The company’s solar energy collectors, the main project of the company at present, aim to convert solar rays into heat for heating fluids, in this case, water in the industry.
Thus, Embrapii saw great potential in the project to ensure more sustainability for the Brazilian industrial sector, supporting the startup’s initiative since then.
The CEO and founder of Mondi Energy, Guilherme Scagnolatto, commented that the development of the solar energy collectors was motivated by the idea that the national industry needs to invest in new sustainability solutions today.
He also mentioned that the sector plans to increasingly adopt green technologies and reduce the environmental impact of its activities, and that Mondi Energy will be there to contribute to the segment.
The project supported by Embrapii differs from common residential heaters because it can reach high temperatures for heating liquids in the national industry.
Thus, Guilherme Scagnolatto stated: “In applications where the temperature is higher, we cannot reach these temperatures without concentrating solar energy“.
The company intends to make this the main way to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels in this type of operation in processes in varied sectors such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, beverages, dairy products, among others.
Embrapii And Mondi Energy Say That Solar Energy Collectors Can Reduce Fossil Fuel Consumption By Up To 30% In Industrial Processes
The main objective of developing solar energy collectors in the Mondi Energy project is to contribute to reducing fossil fuel consumption in the heating of fluids in the Brazilian industry.
According to Scagnolatto, the expectation is that the solar collectors will provide a fuel savings of 20% to 30%, depending on the characteristics of the industrial operation that uses the equipment.
While the startup works on solutions to make the project feasible, the IFSC/USP team ensures the technical feasibility and safety of using the collectors in Brazilian industrial processes.
The process, which began in February 2021 and lasted 12 months, involved testing samples up to the construction of the prototype.
Currently, Mondi Energy markets the pilot project with the help of Embrapii in several locations throughout the national territory.
The CEO of the startup emphasized that the support from the national industry was essential for them to move the project forward and reach where they are today.
