The new factory, in the state of Minas Gerais

According to Jornal Estado de Minas Gerais, the factory will be located in the Industrial Center III in an area of 12 square meters. “The municipality did not assign any square meter to them”, informed the mayor. The land was donated by the owners after mobilization by Vilela. Installation is expected to begin later this year after the release of permits from the Sanitary Surveillance. The process for obtaining the necessary environmental licenses will also begin. Today, all steps are carried out within the municipality.

Vilela will meet with Governor Romeu Zema (Novo) on September 22 to detail the project, which is already known to the State. The Secretary of Government, Igor Etto, the Chief of Staff of the General Secretariat, Luiz Otávio de Oliveira Gonçalves, Federal Deputy Domingos Sávio (PSDB) and State Deputy Gustavo Miter (PSC) will also participate.

The company's first industrial unit in Brazil

It will be the company's second factory in the world and should generate around 150 direct and indirect jobs. The first plant is in the United States, from where the products are exported to 21 countries. In Brazil, production is in Betim, in the metropolitan region, running on an outsourced line. “Brazil is the only country outside the United States that has local production,” said CEO Junior Ribeiro.

From Carmo do Cajuru, the company intends to extend distribution to all of Latin America. The strategic location was one of the points that attracted investors to the municipality of just over 22,9 thousand inhabitants. “It is strategically well positioned for the product to be distributed nationally”, stressed the CEO.

The proximity to the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ), located in Divinópolis, 15 km away, was another attraction for the factory, with the possibility of developing new products. Skilled labor is cited as another factor.

Cristália, a pharmaceutical, pharmochemical and biotechnology laboratory with 100% national capital, has just announced the acquisition of yet another industrial plant to expand its drug production capacity. The business group bought property where the Santanense fabric factory operated, in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. The forecast for investments in the place is approximately R$ 300 million and around 700 new jobs could open.

The acquired property has around 30 thousand square meters of built area, in a land with 156 thousand square meters, and will undergo adaptations to meet the standards of the pharmaceutical industry. Both the renovation and the acquisition of equipment take time, and the forecast is that the factory will start operating in 2023.

The contribution is added to another R$ 100 million that are being invested by the company in Pouso Alegre, in the south of Minas, in an injectable medicine factory (ampoules and vial), already in operation. The city of Montes Claros was chosen as the location for the factory because it provides tax incentives for setting up industries and because the property already has good infrastructure, speeding up the work and adaptations needed to start production. The region also has qualified labor, as around 700 direct jobs will be generated over the next five years.
