Discover the 37 In-Demand Professions in Italy and How They Can Facilitate Your Acquisition of a Work Visa.

Italy is facing a significant labor shortage in various sectors, creating opportunities for foreign workers interested in obtaining a work visa in the country. According to the latest report from EURES, the European Labor Authority, the shortage of professionals is a growing problem in Italy, affecting 37 different professions.

High-Demand Sectors in Italy

The main sectors affected by the labor shortage in Italy include manufacturing, information technology, food services, and healthcare.

These sectors are urgently seeking skilled workers, offering opportunities for foreigners, including Brazilians, who wish to migrate to Italy.

The shortage of professionals in these areas is creating a growing demand for skilled workers, which can facilitate the acquisition of work visas for those who qualify for the in-demand occupations.

Professions with the Greatest Labor Shortage in Italy

The EURES report highlighted 37 professions in Italy that are suffering from labor shortages, and among them, 10 stand out as the most urgent.

Among them, nurses are in high demand due to the aging population and increasing healthcare needs.

Food service counter attendants are needed to meet the rising demand in the food sector.

Software and application developers are sought after due to the expansion of the information technology sector.

Doctors are also highly requested, especially in areas with a high demand for healthcare services.

Bakers and pastry chefs are essential for the food industry, which aims to meet a growing demand for baking and pastry products.

Welders are needed in the manufacturing industry, while medical imaging and therapeutic equipment technicians are sought after as medical technology advances.

Network and computer systems technicians are in demand due to the increasing need for information technology specialists.

Workers in the industry and personal services are also in short supply, with a need for professionals in various roles and personal service demands.

Need for Immigrants

Italy faces an additional challenge with an aging population. Studies indicate that the country will need about 280,000 foreign workers annually until 2050 to compensate for the declining population and labor shortages.

The Center for Study and Research IDOS revealed that Italy’s population is expected to decrease by 7.8 million by 2050, further emphasizing the necessity for foreign workers.

In response to this situation, the Italian government approved a new program document for the legal entry of foreign workers for the period of 2023–2025.

This measure was taken in response to pressure from employers, who have faced a growing labor shortage over the past 12 years.

Opportunities for Brazilians Amid Labor Shortages

For Brazilian workers considering migrating to Italy, it is essential to know the in-demand professions.

Working in one of the listed occupations can increase the chances of obtaining a work visa.

The demand for qualified professionals in critical sectors offers an excellent opportunity for those willing to move to Italy and contribute to the local economy.

In summary, the labor shortage in Italy is creating a window of opportunity for foreign workers.

The in-demand professions represent a real chance for those wishing to live and work legally in the country.

With the aging population and the increasing need for workers in specific sectors, now may be a good time to consider a move to Italy.
