In Higienópolis, Nannies Go Viral by Creating a Salary Table of Up to R$ 8 Thousand Monthly. The Movement, Born in WhatsApp Groups, Reflects the Growing Appreciation and Professionalization of Child Caregivers in Brazil
In a country where the average income hovers around R$ 3.4 thousand, according to Pnad, some professionals are standing out financially for a curious reason. In Higienópolis, a wealthy neighborhood in São Paulo, nannies have started to go viral on social media by announcing positions with salaries of up to R$ 8 thousand monthly.
Table Among Nannies and Appreciation of the Profession
The movement emerged among caregivers who frequent Praça Buenos Aires. In WhatsApp groups, they decided to create a type of “fixed table” with values ranging from R$ 7 thousand to R$ 8 thousand for eight-hour daily shifts, on a 5×2 schedule.
The initiative gained momentum as many professionals began to demand recognition and better working conditions.

“Nanny is a luxury, not a helper. We are professionals in the field, with diplomas, courses, and qualifications. Love, respect, and recognition for the profession start with you. Value yourself!”, read one of the messages circulating in these groups.
High Demand and a More Qualified Profile
According to data from CAGED, formal hiring of nannies — that is, with signed contracts — increased by 73% between August of last year and July of this year.
This growth reflects not only the appreciation of the category but also the higher demands from families.
A report from Jornal do Brás highlighted that the market is looking for professionals with more experience and even educational qualifications.
“The care for children goes through constant transformations, following new research and recommendations. Therefore, staying updated is essential,” said Anna Karolina Ribeiro, a nurse and founder of Espaço Mamma, a reference in nanny training.
