Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) Is Open for Applications Until February 10, 2025, for the Free Specialization Course in Human Rights and Gender, Starting in May 2025; the Program Aims to Train Professionals to Work in Areas Related to Social and Gender Inequalities. There Are 25 Available Slots, Including Affirmative Action.

In a scenario where professional qualification becomes increasingly essential to secure good opportunities, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) presents an unmissable opportunity for those who wish to specialize in fundamental themes for building a fairer and more inclusive society. But what makes this chance even more interesting?

Besides being a highly relevant academic course, it is 100% free and open for a limited time!

Specialization Course in Human Rights and Gender

Fiocruz, through the Sérgio Arouca National School of Public Health (ENSP), is offering a free specialization in Human Rights and Gender.

The main goal of the course is to train professionals who work or wish to work in areas that require in-depth knowledge about gender relations, social inequalities, and public policies.

With a workload of 480 hours, the specialization will cover everything from basic concepts about human rights and health to advanced discussions on gender in different social contexts.

Participants will also be required to develop a Final Course Project (TCC), with a final submission deadline in March 2026.

One of the advantages of the course is that it will be conducted in person, with the possibility of hybrid classes (remote and in-person). This allows a larger number of interested individuals to participate without having to commute daily to the institution.

Slots and Affirmative Action

The program offers a total of 25 slots, divided between open competition and affirmative action. The distribution follows the criteria established by Fiocruz Ordinance 491/2021:

  • Open Competition: 13 slots
  • Black (Afro-descendants): 5 slots
  • People with Disabilities (PwD): 3 slots
  • Indigenous: 2 slots
  • Trans People (Transvestites and Transsexuals): 2 slots

Candidates who choose the affirmative action slots will compete simultaneously for the open competition slots, according to their ranking in the selection process.

How to Enroll and Important Deadlines

Enrollment for this specialization is open until February 10, 2025, at 4 PM (Brasília time).

Interested parties must complete the process exclusively through the SIGA LS Platform (www.sigals.fiocruz.br). An important detail: there is no application fee, making the course even more accessible.

To apply, it is necessary to fill out the electronic form and attach the following documents:

  • Updated resume;
  • Letter of intent, detailing the interest and motivation to participate in the course;
  • Supporting documentation, if the candidate chooses to compete for affirmative action slots.

Selection Process: Stages and Evaluation Criteria

The selection will be rigorous and will take place in two phases:

  1. Document Analysis (from March 6 to 21, 2025): the committee will evaluate the candidate’s resume and letter of intent. Only those who score equal to or above 7.0 will be invited to the next stage.
  2. Remote Interview (from April 7 to 11, 2025): in this phase, the evaluators will consider the candidate’s professional experience, participation in social movements, academic engagement, and availability for the course.

The final result will be announced on April 28, 2025, and approved candidates must register between April 30 and May 6, 2025.
