In 2023, BNB Channels Nearly R$ 12 Billion to Boost Regional Development
In a strategic move for the development of the Northeast, the Banco do Nordeste (BNB) allocated, in 2023, an amount of R$ 11.97 billion to finance infrastructure projects. This amount represents an increase of 86% compared to the previous year, marking a significant boost in efforts to improve infrastructure in the region. Based in Fortaleza, Ceará, the bank reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable growth and economic structuring in its area of operation.
Strengthening Regional Infrastructure
Under the leadership of Paulo Câmara, BNB supported a variety of essential projects, from energy complexes to airports and highways, covering all states under its jurisdiction. The substantial increase in financing reflects the prioritization of infrastructure, recognizing its vital role in economic development and improving the quality of life for local populations.
A Boost in Financing Operations
The expansion of investments was made possible by a 35.4% growth in the contracts of the Constitutional Fund for Financing the Northeast (FNE), which jumped from R$ 32.3 billion in 2022 to R$ 43.7 billion in 2023. The FNE has established itself as a crucial source of funding for the advancement of infrastructure projects, reflecting the bank’s strategy to be a key partner in this segment.
