This plan can be crafted in a PDF or slide format and shared with the company. During the conversation, seek an opportunity to mention it and present your ideas naturally.

LinkedIn is an important tool for any professional looking for opportunities.

Wood recommends that candidates post about the company on the platform a few days before the interview.

The reason? Recruiters often check the profiles of candidates, and when they find a recent and positive post about the company, it makes a good impression.

There’s no need to write a long text. Wood suggests something simple, with up to seven sentences, commenting on a news or initiative from the company. An example:

  • I just read about a new ice cream launched by Company X. I found it interesting how it brings an innovative combination of flavors and ingredients. This kind of novelty reinforces how creativity in gastronomy can surprise and win over consumers.

This type of post shows that you are following the company, understand the industry, and are engaged. Moreover, it helps create a connection point with the interviewer, who may remember you because of this detail.

Send a Voicemail on LinkedIn

Another tip that can help create a stronger connection is sending a voicemail on LinkedIn to the interviewers. Wood states that audio messages are more memorable than written texts, as they provide a more personal tone to the interaction.

The message can be sent a day before the interview and should be short and objective. Something like:

  • Hi, [recruiter’s name], I’m super excited for our conversation tomorrow. This opportunity seems to fit perfectly with my skills and experience, and I look forward to discussing how I can contribute. See you soon!

Wood highlights that when receiving several messages on LinkedIn, voicemails are the ones that stand out the most. As they are less common, recruiters tend to pay more attention to them.
