Hurry! The registrations for the free course “Territories of Writing” will close this Saturday, November 30. Promoted by the Ministry of Culture and UFRGS, the program offers 1,000 online slots and 100 scholarships of R$ 2,000 for those who dream of turning their passion for writing into a career.

If you have ever dreamed of seeing your name on the cover of a book, now is the time to turn that desire into reality.

A free writing course, completely online, is offering 1,000 spots across Brazil and also gives the chance to win a scholarship of R$ 2,000. But be careful: registrations close this Saturday, November 30, 2024.

The course Territories of Writing is a partnership between the Ministry of Culture and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).

In addition to providing training in various literary genres, such as poetry, novels, short stories, and chronicles, the program aims to democratize access to literary education and reveal new talents.

Slots are limited and time is running out, so it is essential to hurry to secure your registration!

Why Is This Opportunity So Special?

Unlike other courses, the Territories of Writing was developed to cater to both those who are just starting to explore writing and writers who wish to refine their techniques.

The online format eliminates geographical and financial barriers, allowing anyone, anywhere in Brazil, to participate without travel costs or registration fees.

And more: at the end of the course, each participant will have the chance to develop their own literary project.

The 100 best-rated projects will receive a scholarship of R$ 2,000, a valuable incentive for those wanting to turn their passion for writing into something bigger.

Additionally, the course provides an official extension certificate issued by UFRGS and the Ministry of Culture, further enhancing the curriculum of those who complete it.

Course Structure and Syllabus

Scheduled to start on January 15, 2025, classes will be entirely online, utilizing a practical and dynamic methodology. During the course, participants will dive into various literary genres, including:

  • Long Narrative (novel);
  • Short Story;
  • Poetry;
  • Chronicle;
  • Children’s and Young Adult Literature;
  • Dramatic Text.

Each genre is approached as a learning pathway, with activities that encourage creativity and the development of a personal style.

Furthermore, students will be in contact with techniques for building characters, crafting dialogues, and structuring plots.

Interaction with renowned professionals in the literary field is another significant advantage, offering participants the chance to exchange experiences and receive valuable guidance.

Social Inclusion and Representativity

The Territories of Writing also stands out for promoting diversity and inclusion. The announcement reserves slots for historically underrepresented groups, ensuring a plural and accessible environment.

Distribution of slots by quotas:

  • 25% for Black people (Blacks and browns);
  • 10% for Indigenous peoples;
  • 5% for people with disabilities (PWD).

Moreover, candidates from the North, Northeast, and Central-West regions are entitled to extra points in the selection process, encouraging participation from people across different parts of the country.

How to Enroll in the Creative Writing Program?

The process is simple and entirely online. To participate, it is necessary to access the program’s official website, fill out the registration form, and submit the required documents.

Important: registrations end on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:59 PM. There is no registration fee, but it is essential to pay attention to fill out all fields correctly to secure participation in the selection process.

How Does the Selection Work in the Creative Writing Project?

After the closing of registrations, the selection process will take place between December 1 and 10. The evaluation will be based on the answers from the registration questionnaire and the documents submitted by the candidates.

Only those who achieve a minimum score of 7.0 will be approved, ensuring a quality standard among participants. The preliminary results will be announced on December 10, 2024.

Benefits for Participants

Besides being free, the course offers unique benefits for those looking to improve in the writing universe:
