The State University of Maranhão (UEMA) has announced the opening of 150 spots for the graduate program in Science Education, offered in Distance Education (EaD) mode.
The course is aimed at teachers in the Natural Sciences field and aims to qualify professionals for teaching in Elementary and High School.
Enrollment for the selection process will occur exclusively online and will be open from January 28 to February 19, 2025.

How the Distance Postgraduate Course Works
The specialization will be conducted through the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) of UEMA, where students will have access to teaching materials, video classes, PDF handouts, and other resources.
Despite the EaD model, there will be mandatory in-person moments, during which students will need to attend support centers for evaluations and participation in in-person activities.
These meetings will occur periodically, usually on weekends, and travel costs will be the responsibility of the students.
The course will last 18 months with a total workload of 480 hours. Upon completion, graduates will receive a specialization certificate recognized by UEMA and the Ministry of Education (MEC).
Who Can Enroll in the Free Postgraduate Program?
The target audience for the course is licensed teachers and graduates who work as educators in public or private educational institutions and teach subjects in the Natural Sciences area (such as Biology, Physics, and Chemistry).
It is essential that candidates reside in the state of Maranhão and choose one of the support centers to participate in the in-person meetings. The available centers are:
- Balsas
- Carutapera
- Humberto de Campos
- Imperatriz
- São Luís
Each center will have 30 spots, totaling the 150 opportunities provided by the program.
How Will the Selection Be Made?
The selection of candidates will be based on curriculum evaluation, considering the academic background and professional experience of the applicants.
During enrollment, it will be necessary to submit scanned documentation in PDF format, as required by the announcement.
The final result will be published on the UEMAnet website, and the approved candidates will receive instructions regarding the next steps for enrollment confirmation.
