Brazilian Air Force
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is the air branch of the Armed Forces of Brazil, and one of the three national uniformed services, as well as the Auxiliary Forces. The Ministry of Aeronautics was established on January 20, 1941, and its military component was initially known as the “National Air Forces.” On May 22 of the same year, the name of the military branch was changed to the “Brazilian Air Force,” or FAB. All personnel, aircraft, buildings, and other equipment associated with the air branches of the Army and Navy (referred to respectively as “Military Aviation” and “Naval Aviation”) were transferred to the FAB before the air branches of both services were abolished.
