With The Announcement Of The Military Investment, The Modernization Of The Brazilian Armed Forces Is Closer Than Ever, Check Out The Details!

The Brazilian Federal Government announced an ambitious military investment of R$ 112.9 billion in the Brazilian Armed Forces by 2026, integrating the strategy titled Mission 6 of the New Brazil Industry Program (NIB). The main objective of the investment is to strengthen the Brazilian Armed Forces, encompassing the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Army, and the Brazilian Air Force, aiming to expand the country’s control over critical defense technologies, as well as promote military modernization.

New Objectives And Goals Of The Brazilian Armed Forces

So far, Brazil has only 42.7% dominance over essential defense technologies. With the new military investment, the Federal Government believes this number will increase to 55% by the end of 2026, advancing to 75% by 2033.

On The List Of Military Modernization Priorities Are: development of satellites, radars, launchers, and vehicles, mainly the Gripen fighter, which are more than crucial at this moment of modernization for the Brazilian Armed Forces.

The distribution of resources has already been established: of the R$ 112.9 billion, R$ 79.8 billion will come from public resources, mainly from the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) Defense, which will allocate around R$ 31.4 billion for more specific projects. The remaining R$ 33.1 billion will come from private sector investments, focusing on defense, nuclear, aerospace, and security areas.

New Strategic Projects Of The Armed Forces

The military investment will encompass a series of new strategic military modernization projects and the strengthening of the country’s sovereignty. The funding will be for projects of the Brazilian Navy, Brazilian Army, and Brazilian Air Force.

Projects Of The Brazilian Navy

The Brazilian Navy will benefit from the construction of new frigates and submarines, with the aim of improving defense capacity at sea and ensuring full security of Brazilian territorial waters. These development projects are essential for modernizing the Navy’s fleet, ensuring more security and efficiency in naval operations;

Projects Of The Brazilian Army

The Brazilian Army will receive funding to acquire armored vehicles and other cutting-edge military equipment, which are fundamental elements for the update and modernization of land forces, not to mention the improvement of the operational capacity of troops in the field. This military investment will enable the Brazilian Army to operate more efficiently in its defense and security missions;

Projects Of The Brazilian Air Force

Regarding the Brazilian Air Force, it will be benefited with the continuation of the acquisition process of the Gripen fighter, a state-of-the-art aircraft that will elevate the Air Force’s defense capability. In addition to the investment in the Gripen fighter, there will also be investments in the development and production of the KC-390 cargo plane, further improving the logistical and transport capacity of the Armed Forces.

International Partnerships And National Economic And Industrial Impact

The Brazilian military modernization is also connected to international partnerships and technology exchanges between countries. In a recent decision, Sweden requested the C-390 Millennium from Embraer to be its new military transport aircraft, while the Brazilian government plans to increase its contract with Saab by 25% to acquire more units of the Gripen fighter.

Through these initiatives, the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between countries is guaranteed, being of utmost importance for the military modernization of the Brazilian Armed Forces.

The military investment ensures a significant impact on the Brazilian economic sector and national industry, creating new jobs and boosting the productive chain of the country.

The process of military modernization and strengthening Brazil’s military capability will also help play an important and necessary role in reducing dependence on technologies from other countries, promoting national autonomy and sovereignty.
