Trump signed a decree on May 1st that expands sanctions against Cuba and authorizes unprecedented punishment for foreign banks and companies that do business with the island; China classified the measures as “illegal” and called for an immediate end to the embargo, in an official statement released this Tuesday.
The company intends to integrate advanced technological solutions into the sector, expanding its operations and consolidating Brazil as a global reference in smart agriculture.
The amount includes R$ 521 million obtained through Finep (Funding Authority for Studies and Projects) and BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development), in addition to R$ 200 million from Bosch’s own resources.
Technological Transformation in Brazilian Agriculture
The invested amount will be applied until 2027 and will focus on four strategic areas:
- Sustainable Mobility
- Industry 4.0
- Intelligent Systems for Agriculture
- Remanufacturing of Automotive Components
Bosch is already a global reference in technology and innovation, but now it aims to consolidate its brand in agriculture.
To achieve this, the company will create a Global Competence Center in Brazil by 2025, dedicated to the development of new technologies for the sector.
This initiative is part of the federal program More Innovation, part of the Brazil New Industry Plan (NIB), which aims to boost industrial competitiveness through digitalization and automation.
The investment announcement took place at Bosch’s headquarters in Campinas (SP), with the presence of the Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC), Geraldo Alckmin.
Innovation and Job Creation
In addition to the technological impact, Bosch’s investment will bring direct benefits to the job market.
The company plans to hire 100 new professionals in Brazil and Argentina to work in research and development areas.
By 2027, this number could reach 1,000 new jobs.
According to Gastón Diaz Perez, CEO of Bosch Latin America, South America has enormous growth potential in the agricultural sector.
“We are well-positioned to face the upcoming challenges, and Latin America continues to be a region of high potential,” the executive highlighted.
Currently, the company already allocates around R$ 1 billion per year for investments in Latin America, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Digital Platform for Environmental Monitoring
One of the most promising solutions within Bosch’s innovation plan is the development of a digital platform for monitoring Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) in agriculture.
This project received funding of R$ 10.4 million from Finep and aims to reduce the carbon footprint in the fields, improve productive efficiency, and enhance environmental traceability.
The technology will allow for real-time monitoring of agricultural emissions, optimizing the use of inputs and ensuring more sustainable production.
With this advancement, Bosch will contribute to achieving global carbon reduction targets aligned with the Paris Agreement.
According to Mathias Schelp, Vice President for Smart Agriculture at Bosch, the company will establish a Global Competence Center in Brazil for research in technologies that aid in planting, spraying, and connectivity in the fields.
“Our goal is to help producers optimize their resources and increase productivity sustainably,” Schelp explained.
Impact of New Technologies in the Fields
Bosch’s investment aligns with a global movement of digitalization and automation in the agricultural sector.
The company estimates that with the implementation of these new technologies, the following results can be achieved:
- Reduction of up to 20% in seed consumption
- Increase of up to 13% in agricultural productivity
- Decrease of up to 30% in fertilizer usage
- Reduction of herbicide usage by up to 90% in the pre-emergent phase and 86% in the post-emergent phase
These numbers demonstrate the direct impact of innovation in reducing costs for producers and preserving the environment, consolidating Brazil as one of the leading hubs of agricultural technology in the world.
Brazil as a Global Reference in Agricultural Technology
During the investment announcement event, BNDES and Finep also launched a R$ 3 billion call for proposals to foster new research and development projects in Brazil.
The aim is to attract national and foreign companies interested in innovation in agriculture, offering facilitated credit conditions and financial support for cooperative projects.
With this incentive, Brazil is advancing in building a robust innovation ecosystem, positioning it favorably in the global landscape.
The partnership between Bosch, Finep, and BNDES strengthens the country as a technology center for agriculture, exporting solutions to markets such as Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, Europe, and the United States.
José Luís Gordon, director of BNDES, reinforced the importance of this movement:
“By supporting Bosch’s investment plans, BNDES fulfills its role in the Brazil New Industry, encouraging research and development, skilled labor training, and promoting sustainable development.”
For experts, Bosch’s multimillion investment in Brazil reinforces its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the agriculture sector.
With new technologies, digitalization, and a Global Competence Center, the company aims to transform Brazilian agriculture and position the country as a world leader in the sector.
In the coming years, the integration of technological solutions will provide rural producers with greater efficiency, lower environmental impact, and increased competitiveness in the global market.
The digital revolution in the fields has already begun, and Bosch is at the forefront of this transformation.
