Maersk's investments in TPAR – Angra dos Reis Port Terminal will generate job openings in the region

Port of Angra do Reis managed by Splenda Offshore since 2020, shortly after Technip left in 2019, is strategically located to the giant pre-salt fields of the Santos Basin.

The giant Maersk and TPAR signed last Monday (29/11), an agreement to transform the Port Terminal of Angra dos Reis (TPAR), managed by the Splenda Port group, into one of the main offshore support bases in the country. The investments promise to generate job openings and bring back the dignity of several families that suffered from the layoffs at the Brasfels shipyard, caused by the construction and production crisis in the Brazilian naval sector.

“We are investing in operational and structural improvements to expand the capacity of the Angra dos Reis Port Terminal to handle larger ships. Our objective is to transform it into the main offshore support base in Brazil”, said the CEO of TPAR and partner of Splenda Port, Paulo Narcélio.

The port of Angra dos Reis will be the support base for pre-installation operations for the FPSO Sepetiba mooring system, under construction in China by SBM.

The project foresees, in addition to investing in improving the port's facilities, being the support base for the pre-installation operations of the FPSO Sepetiba mooring system, under construction in China by SBM.

The project is expected to start in January 2022, starting with the installation stage of pre-anchoring the torpedoes and lines for the FPSO, and the work should last about seven months.

TPAR Porto de Angra managed by Splenda Offshore since 2020, shortly after Technip left in 2019, is strategically located to the giant pre-salt fields of the Santos Basin.

The unit also has a total area of 87 m², 400 m of wharf length and availability of berths for mooring and retro area. Recently, the Splenda group acquired a fluids plant and also plans to increase the terminal's draft in 2021, from 8,5 meters to 10 meters. An expansion of the storage area by another 50 m2 and general improvements are also in TPAR's plans.

FPSO Sepetiba has a daily processing capacity of up to 180 thousand barrels of oil, water injection of 250 thousand barrels and treatment of 12 million cubic meters of natural gas, in addition to a minimum storage capacity of 1,4 million barrels of oil gross. The unit will be installed in the Mero field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt.

Petrobras announced the beginning of production in Brazil of the production modules of the P-78 platform, at the Brasfels shipyard, in Angra dos Reis (RJ), which will operate in the largest deep-water asset in the world

Good news for Brazilian shipbuilding! The Brazilian oil giant Petrobras announced last night, in a fact relevant to the market, the start of production in Brazil of the production modules of the P-78 platform, at the Brasfels shipyard, in Angra dos Reis (RJ).

According to the state-owned company's announcement, the modules are units responsible for processing oil, gas and water and comprise, along with the hull, the utilities and the flare, the whole structure of such a floating platform. This stage of the work foresees the simultaneous manufacture of ten modules, out of the 21 foreseen for the P-78, and should be completed in about 20 months.

The construction of the other modules, the hull and the integration of Petrobras' P-78 platform will be carried out in China, South Korea and Singapore

The construction of the other modules, the hull and the integration will be carried out in China, South Korea and Singapore. The work will be concluded, meeting the expected local content index for the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin, where the platform will be installed. The platform is expected to be delivered in 2024, with production starting in 2025.

“The P-78 is the first of Petrobras' new generation of FPSOs, the result of more than ten years of learning in the design, construction, start-up and operation cycles of pre-salt production platforms. The unit incorporates the best technical and engineering management solutions identified through the Reference Project corporate program, which culminated in the definition of a production unit model to be used in the pre-salt layer. For the reference FPSO, we focused on maximizing the economic value of production development projects, while incorporating new low-carbon technologies, greater efficiency and making the systems compatible with the magnitude and complexity of the wells in the Búzios field”, stated the Development Director of Petrobras production, João Henrique Rittershaussen.

The P-78 platform vessel will have a daily processing capacity of 180 barrels of oil and 7,2 million m³ of gas

With a daily processing capacity of 180 barrels of oil and 7,2 million m³ of gas, the P-78 incorporates solutions that include increased energy efficiency, new technologies for separating and reinjecting CO2, reducing routine burning , among others. The project also provides for the interconnection of 13 wells to the FPSO, of which 6 are producers and 7 are injectors, through an underwater infrastructure comprising rigid production and injection pipelines and flexible service pipelines.

Campo de Búzios is a world-class asset, and should reach the end of the decade with daily production above 2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day

The Búzios field is a world-class asset, with substantial reserves, low risk and low extraction costs. It should reach the end of the decade with daily production above 2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, making it Petrobras' asset with the highest production.

Currently, there are four units in operation in Búzios, which account for more than 30% of Petrobras' total production. The fifth and sixth platforms planned for the field (FPSOs Almirante Barroso and Almirante Tamandaré) are under construction. The modules of the eighth unit (FPSO P-79) will start to be manufactured in 2021, while the ninth unit (FPSOs P-80) is in the hiring process.
