New 15-Digit Numbering Will Standardize The Energy System Until December 31, 2025, Ensuring More Safety And Efficiency For Consumers.
The Equatorial Energy Group reported that, by December 31, 2025, it will complete the national standardization of the identification number for Consumer Units (UCs), as determined by Normative Resolution No. 1,095/2024 from ANEEL, published on June 18, 2024. The update will encompass distributors from the states of Maranhão, Pará, Piauí, Alagoas, Amapá, Goiás, and Rio Grande do Sul, promoting uniformity and traceability throughout the electric sector.
Goal Is To Enhance Traceability And Operational Efficiency
According to the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), the measure aims to improve operational efficiency, ensure more security for data, and increase transparency in relationships with consumers. Additionally, the new numbering will allow for integration between systems, which optimizes processes and reduces registration errors.
The change follows a 15-digit national standard, consisting of 10 sequential digits for the consumer unit, 3 digits for the distributor, and 2 check digits. This standardization will replace the old business partner and installation codes, simplifying the bill and making information control more accurate.

Implementation Will Be Automatic And Without Impact For The Consumer
According to ANEEL, the new model will be implemented automatically starting January 1, 2026, without the need for consumer action. During the one-year transition period, customers will be able to consult both the old and new numbers on the distributors’ digital channels.
The agency also emphasizes that there will be no contractual impact or interruption in electric power supply. In case of change of ownership, the unit number will remain the same, with only the CPF or CNPJ of the new responsible party being changed. Thus, the registration becomes linked to the property and no longer to the owner, reinforcing traceability and avoiding inconsistencies in records.
Bill Will Only Display The New Unit Number
On energy bills issued by the Equatorial Group, the new 15-digit number will appear under the “UC Number” field, according to the standard defined by ANEEL. The old fields for “partner number” and “installation number” will be removed.
According to a statement released by the company in February 2025, this change “reinforces the commitment to modernize the electric sector and to improve the customer experience.” ANEEL also states that the unification reduces operational errors and facilitates integration between databases.
Modernization Brings Gains To The Electric Sector
With this standardization, the Brazilian electric sector gains more agility and standardization of information, strengthening the relationship between utilities and consumers. The measure also increases transaction security, improves consumption history, and facilitates access to social programs based on the registration of consumer units.
Finally, ANEEL emphasizes that this transformation represents a significant technological advancement, aligned with the goals of modernization and digitalization of public services.
Conclusion Of Standardization And Direct Benefits
The national standardization of consumer units is an essential step to ensure more transparency, organization, and security in the Brazilian electric system. The completion by December 2025 and full adoption starting January 2026 mark a new standard for data management and service in the country.
With this, the Equatorial Energy Group reinforces its commitment to innovation and efficiency, while consumers gain greater clarity and reliability in their bills. After all, a unified system means fewer errors, more security, and a more agile relationship with energy distributors.
