Closed Country, North Korea Maintains Strict Control Over the Population and Remains One of the Most Enigmatic Nations Today.
North Korea, officially known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, is one of the most isolated countries in the world. Located in East Asia, it shares borders with China, Russia, and South Korea.
Since the end of the Korean War in 1953, the country has remained under communist rule, currently led by Kim Jong-un.
The North Korean government tightly controls all information that enters and leaves the territory. The press is state-run, internet access is extremely limited, and foreign tourists can only visit specific areas, always accompanied by government guides.

While many European countries still face pressure from expensive and unstable energy, the Czech Republic is preparing an $18 billion nuclear power plant to deliver steady electricity with technology from South Korea.

In France, an entire road disappears under up to four meters of water, reappears at low tide, and only allows passage when the ocean reveals the path to Noirmoutier.

While old nuclear plants often become industrial ruins or abandoned areas, in Germany the Gundremmingen plant will be reborn as a giant 400 MW and 700 MWh battery connected to the power grid.

As offshore wind turbines become increasingly larger, Japan is preparing a 5,000-ton crane ship capable of lifting giant foundations for machines of up to 20 MW.
The local population lives under heavy surveillance and with few individual liberties.
Drone Crossed the Border and Captured Isolated City
In a surprising post on Reddit, a user identified as XiaoHao2 revealed rare aerial images of North Korea, taken with a drone sent from China.
The photos, released at the end of March last year, show scenes from the city of Sinuiju, located on the border with China.
According to the author, the drone departed from the Chinese city of Dandong and crossed the Yalu River, which separates the two countries.
The images are reported to have been taken in 2020, at the height of the pandemic. Sinuiju, the capital of North Pyongan Province, appears in the photos with empty streets, simple buildings, and residents watching the aerial equipment.
The internet user reported that everything occurred while he was in Chinese territory and emphasized, in response to a comment, that he remains “alive and free.”
One of the images reportedly shows, according to The Korean Times, the main avenue near the Sinuiju Chongnyon station.
Interest in Closed Country Remains High
North Korea is one of the most isolated countries in the world. With closed borders for much of the pandemic, tourism still requires permission, organized groups, and local guides. Photographing freely is also not allowed.
These images generated online buzz precisely because they show the country’s interior without the usual control.
According to the post’s author, the recordings were not edited and show exactly what the drone captured.
