The Duplication of AL-101 North, With an Investment of R$ 412 Million, Is About to Transform the Infrastructure of Alagoas! Understand How This Work Will Impact Traffic, the Economy, and the Future of Mobility in the Region!
The Government of Alagoas has started the construction of the duplication of AL-101 North, an investment that promises to transform the North Coast of the state into an even more accessible and attractive destination. With an investment of R$ 412 million, financed by the State Treasury in partnership with the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), the project aims to improve the infrastructure of the region, benefiting both the people of Alagoas and tourists. The stretch to be duplicated will extend for 30 kilometers, connecting the neighborhood of Jacarecica in Maceió to the city of Barra de Santo Antônio.
According to the Secretary of Transport and Urban Development, Mosart Amaral, the duplication is part of a commitment by Governor Paulo Dantas to the tourism industry and the population. “The purpose of the government of Alagoas is for the state to be fully interconnected with better roads,” emphasizes Amaral. The new highway will provide greater safety and efficiency in mobility, facilitating the transit of drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Infrastructure and Job Creation

In addition to improving mobility, the duplication of AL-101 North will also bring direct economic benefits to the region. The project is expected to generate approximately 400 job openings in various areas, contributing to local development. “This type of investment not only transforms infrastructure but also boosts the economy by creating new opportunities,” says engineer Alberto Cruz Granjeiro from Setrand.

The project includes the creation of a main corridor, with two lanes in each direction, and five access points that will connect the new stretch to the existing AL-101 North, which currently has a single lane. Each of these access points will extend 6.7 kilometers, further increasing mobility efficiency.
With the duplication of the highway and the execution of the Via de Charme — another ongoing project that enhances the route between Maceió and Paripueira — the government of Alagoas aims to consolidate the region as one of the main tourist hubs in Brazil. Thus, the duplication of AL-101 North positions itself as a milestone in the development of the state, concerning both mobility and job creation as well as boosting tourism.
