Artificial Intelligence promises to change the job market: discover the main professions that will be replaced by AI, according to a study by the World Economic Forum 2025 up.

A study by the World Economic Forum projected important changes in the job market over the next five years and highlighted the main professions that will be replaced by AI (Artificial Intelligence). However, even with the replacement of professions, there are some that will gain prominence in the job market in 2025.

Understand how the labor market survey was carried out

The Future of Jobs 2025 report shows that while new jobs are always emerging, there are many professions that will be replaced by AI and are in rapid decline. According to the research, technologies such as Artificial Intelligence “are radically transforming the job market” and will eliminate thousands of jobs.

The survey was conducted with more than 14 employers around the world, representing 22 million workers in 92 different sectors. The data shows that around 8 million jobs will be eliminated globally, which represents 2030% of the current workforce, by XNUMX.

The report highlights that the sectors with the most jobs that will be replaced by AI include those that rely on repetitive and administrative tasks, especially those related to operational support, financial services and customer service.

Despite the projections for these sectors, the study also predicts that approximately 170 million new jobs should emerge by 2030, with emphasis on areas linked to technology and professional training to reduce the impacts of operations.

According to the document, workers need to adapt quickly to new demands in the job market, seeking improvement in strategic areas such as data science, artificial intelligence and software engineering.

The report argues that the advancement of AI-powered automation and word processing tools will drastically reduce the need for manual data entry professionals, ending the role of Typists and Data Entry Operators.

With the popularization of self-service systems and digital payments, the trend is for face-to-face interactions for purchases and transactions to be reduced to minimum levels, eliminating the roles of supermarket cashiers and ticket sellers.

Virtual support software and intelligent chatbots are replacing human contact in support services. According to the study, the use of artificial intelligence in customer service could reduce up to 60% of current functions in this sector.

With the decline of print media and the digitization of documents, the need for professionals in the printing industry has fallen to irrelevant levels in many developed countries, ending careers such as printing machine operators.

Generative AI software and advanced machine translators are already surpassing the accuracy of human proofreaders and translators in several business applications, bringing an end to proofreaders and translators.

Other positions facing extinction include administrative assistants and executive secretaries, postal service employees, bank clerks and bank tellers, printing and publishing workers, insurance brokers and financial agents, inventory control and warehouse workers, basic technical support workers, travel agents, public transportation controllers, and accounting and tax analysts.

Positions that will grow in the job market with Artificial Intelligence

Now that you know the professions that will be replaced by AI, it is important to mention that some positions will be in demand in the near future.

The report emphasizes that the transition to this new labor market will require a large investment in professional reskilling. “Companies and governments must create upskilling and reskilling programs to ensure that the workforce can adapt to new market demands.

Faced with these transformations, the World Economic Forum concludes that professionals who seek continuous training and acquire digital skills will have a greater chance of thriving in the future of work. Among the positions that will grow are:

  • Experts in artificial intelligence and machine learning;
  • Data analysts and scientists;
  • Software engineers and application developers;
  • Cybersecurity experts;
  • Sustainability experts;
  • Digital health and biotechnology professionals;
  • Digital transformation managers.

Generations have a cycle and professions follow suit. They begin and end at a time that was necessary. It is not strange that this should happen in the present time. It is clear that some professions are extinguished and many others are created. I remember the typing courses, which were all full in the 60s and 70s, but they no longer exist today. In the future, this will be the case. We will always be adapting to the demands of the market. My hope is that AI will not be completely replaced in professions where emotional and physical reactions of human beings are observed when being judged, always using the rigor of the law and not taking into account the circumstances of the event, therefore judging their right to come and go. An example of a profession among others like it is that of the lawyer. I believe that their presence is irreplaceable in situations where the human person is examined in their defects and virtues. The soul, the spirit, the conscience cannot be fully defended, accused and judged by AI. There is nothing more to say.
