Starting on the 19th, the 25th Intermodal South America edition, an international logistics, cargo transportation, and foreign trade fair, is considered by industry executives as a strategic platform for generating new business.
This 25th Intermodal edition marks its 25 years of existence, once again at the São Paulo Expo, in the city of São Paulo. There will be three days of the event, from March 19 to 21. The Brazilian Association of Port Terminals (ABTP) will discuss one of the main claims of the entity next Tuesday (19). The event also brings together the main players in the international and national markets, promoting business and partnerships, functioning as a platform for launches, brand reinforcement, joint ventures, content, sales, and networking.
Jesualdo Silva, president director of ABTP, said, “We can affirm that the government is aware of our demands and how decisive our sector is for the resumption of the country’s economic growth.” The executive has just taken office and will be at the opening ceremony of the event at 10:30 AM on March 19, as well as at the debate panel of the XXII National Logistics Conference at 5:45 PM.

Lula government releases R$ 1.16 billion through the New PAC to renew public transportation in Brazil with 727 buses in cities of São Paulo, Pernambuco, Minas, Rio, and other states, including electric and less polluting models.
On the same date, the president of ABTP’s Deliberative Council, Antônio Carlos Sepúlveda, will endorse the Association’s speech for “Modernization of the Port Management Model,” the title of the panel that will take place at 3 PM during the XXI National Logistics Conference (CNL), which is part of the Intermodal programming.
The theme of the panel, which is highlighted among the proposals delivered by ABTP to the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio de Freitas, is associated with other sector propositions.
Aware of the specificities and complexities of various Brazilian ports, ABTP understands that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. In some cases, delegation, partial or full concession, or even privatization may apply. However, it recognizes that in any case, immediate decentralization of functions is necessary according to Ordinance 574/2018 and professionalization of management, such as reviewing the Board of Directors with market professionals specialized in the area.
Audience
In 2018, the 24th edition of Intermodal received around 32,000 professionals over three days at the São Paulo Expo, who could check out the innovations from over 400 national and international brands and participate in the XXI National Logistics Conference, organized by the Brazilian Logistics Association (Abralog), which presented high-level content.
Composed mostly of executives and professionals with decision-making power, the audience of Intermodal South America attends the event in search of innovation and business opportunities.
Focusing on networking, Juan Carlos Navarro, director of Transmares Group, which provides maritime agency services in Costa Rica and Colombia, attended the 2018 Intermodal edition to make contacts. “At the fair, we were able to find people from various countries, get to know the services offered, and look for new clients,” he explained.
According to Brazilians’ expectations, 2019 will be a good year for the economy. Different sectors expect to resume business consistently and definitively overcome the crisis that affected Brazil in recent years. The fact is that it is not enough to wait for the indicators to take off. There is no magic. It is necessary to be prepared to achieve a prominent position in the business landscape.
