New JAC Pickup Aims at Fiat Toro Segment with Competitive Price and Promises to Compete with Giants like the Toyota Hilux.
JAC Motors launches the T9 in Brazil, its new midsize pickup that arrives to compete with the segment leaders, such as Fiat Toro and Toyota Hilux. With a competitive starting price (around R$ 200 thousand), modern design, embedded technology, and good performance, the T9 has the potential to win over consumers looking for a robust, reliable, and affordable truck.
New JAC Pickup Can Carry More Than 1 Ton
The T9 pickup is a model that, despite being from a Chinese automaker not so popular in Brazil, like CAOA Chery, BYD and GWM, delivers a lot of luxury and sophistication in a segment that has only recently caught the attention of automakers. The JAC T9 Hunter pickup has been around for a while in Asia and the model has its fans in several countries, and today it is being tested in Brazil.
The Hilux rival will have its cost-benefit as one of the main selling points, alongside another item that Brazilians value highly, which is diesel engine.

Talking a bit about dimensions, the pickup measures 5.33 m in length (the same length as the rival Toyota Hilux), with a wheelbase of 3.10 m, 1.96 m in width, and 1.93 m in height, weighing a light 1976 kg and it can accommodate up to 1090 L of luggage in the bed and at least 900 kg in the Chinese configuration, which is only gasoline, but in the versions with turbo diesel engine, it has a capacity of 1 ton and 50 kg.
New Hilux Rival Delivers Up to 167 Horsepower
The design is another strong point and the JAC pickup stands out positively. In front, there is a large hexagonal grille with the name JAC prominently displayed, gray trim on the bumper, and full LED optical group, divided into three elements on each side.
On the sides, the T9 Hunter features roof rails, in addition to 17 or 18-inch wheels with off-road tires. At the rear, it brings the brand name embossed on the bed cover, an all-black bumper, and full LED taillights that attract a lot of attention.
Moving to the engine, the JAC pickup stands out by meeting the demand of every Brazilian, which is the diesel engine. The option chosen by the Chinese automaker is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine, generating up to 167 horsepower and 41 kgfm of torque, which can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The drivetrain for all configurations is 4×4, not offering versions with rear-wheel or front-wheel drive. The performance of the T9 Hunter is not impressive, but it has enough power to carry the pickup.
