Developing Paulista Wins Unique Google Award After Creating Artificial Intelligence App in Just Two Days During International Competition.

A young Brazilian developer gained international recognition by winning one of the world’s largest programming competitions, held by Google, with an app created in just two days.

The project, named Edu.AI, took first place in the ADK Hackathon, a competition that gathered over 10,000 technology proposals from various countries and awarded the winner with US$ 8,000, equivalent to more than R$ 44,000 at the July 2025 exchange rate, in addition to global recognition and the opportunity to interact directly with representatives from the tech giant.

Artificial Intelligence App Focused on Enem

Giovanna Moeller, 24, from Bauru, São Paulo’s countryside, was the mind behind the solution that uses artificial intelligence agents to help students prepare for the National High School Exam (Enem).

The Edu.AI app was designed to create personalized simulations, automatically grade essays, track students’ progress, and propose study routines adapted to each user’s needs, bringing together resources that facilitate the democratization of education in Brazil.

According to Giovanna, the project was born from the desire to positively impact the Brazilian educational landscape, taking advantage of an opportunity open to national participants.

“When I realized that Brazilians could participate, I immediately decided to develop something innovative. I tried to involve colleagues, but since I couldn’t get support, I opted to do everything alone,” the developer reported in a recent interview.

In total, the technological marathon received over 10,000 projects, putting the young Paulista face-to-face with a challenge that required speed, autonomy, and mastery of cutting-edge tools.

The ADK Hackathon rules required participants to use exclusively solutions and technologies offered by Google, forcing Giovanna to learn and apply the resources in an extremely short period.

“I had never worked with these tools before; I had to learn from scratch and put everything into practice in two days,” she explained.

International Recognition and Financial Award

The victory did not come only with the financial award but also with professional visibility and an invitation for a meeting with Google professionals, an experience valued by developers seeking international prominence.

“I developed the entire app on my own in 48 hours. Being among the selected, competing with people from all over the world, was a unique and rewarding experience,” commented Giovanna upon being announced as the regional champion.

Promising Trajectory of the Brazilian in Technology and Education

With a trajectory of just over five years in the technology sector, Giovanna Moeller had already accumulated significant achievements before winning the ADK Hackathon.

Currently, she is pursuing a degree in information systems at the São Paulo State University (Unesp) and works as a software developer at a São Paulo-based startup specializing in artificial intelligence.

Her work is marked by initiatives that combine technology and education, always aiming to expand access to learning opportunities.

In 2024, Giovanna had already gained international recognition by winning a challenge held by Apple, also with an education-focused project.

At that time, she was selected for an immersion program in Silicon Valley, USA, along with 49 other outstanding young individuals from different countries.

The recognition solidified her reputation as one of the promising Brazilian talents in the field of technology applied to education.

Impact of the AI App on Education Democratization

The Edu.AI, the winning project at Google’s marathon, exemplifies a growing trend in using artificial intelligence to personalize learning and enhance preparation for national exams.

According to specialists in digital education, AI-based tools have the potential to reduce regional inequalities, offer individualized support, and improve the performance of students preparing for selection processes like the Enem.

Young Brazilians in the Global Innovation Scenario

Giovanna Moeller’s trajectory reinforces the presence of young Brazilians in global innovation initiatives.

According to recent data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the technology and innovation sector in the country is growing above the world average, driven by the interest of students and professionals in areas like artificial intelligence, programming, and data science.

The example of the young Paulista demonstrates that with dedication and creativity, it is possible to stand out even in the face of complex challenges and intense international competition.

The Brazilian and 49 others were part of a group of 'distinct winners' in a brand competition.

The victory at the ADK Hackathon and the recognition gained with Google broaden Giovanna’s career prospects while inspiring other young Brazilians to invest in their own projects, even with limited resources or tight deadlines.

The focus on practical solutions for education, combined with mastery of emerging technologies, places the developer in a prominent position in both the national and international scenarios.

Based on this trajectory, the question that remains for those following the world of technology and innovation is: what paths do you believe Brazil can take to train even more talented individuals capable of transforming education with artificial intelligence?
