Bank Advises Account Holders on Essential Measures to Prevent Scams and Frauds That Can Empty Bank Accounts.
If you are a Bradesco client, you might think you are immune to digital scams. After all, who would fall for that, right? But believe it, fraudsters are becoming increasingly creative, and with alarming numbers of attempted scams in Brazil, it’s time to stay alert. Bradesco has just issued an emergency notice with three crucial alerts to help its account holders protect themselves from virtual traps.
Bradesco, one of the largest banks in the country, has been strengthening its security measures against digital fraud, especially given an alarming scenario. A recent study by Koin reveals that 62.4% of Brazilians have already been targeted by attempted virtual scams, with 41.8% of these attempts occurring on shopping sites. However, 80% of the Brazilian population has fallen victim to some type of digital fraud, and the incidence of scams increased by 8.2% from 2022 to 2023, according to data from the Brazilian Yearbook of Public Security.
Three Important Alerts for Bradesco Account Holders
Given this reality, Bradesco has issued an emergency notice with three main alerts for its account holders:
-
More than 3,900 Brazilian municipalities are unable to pay their own bills, and yet two city halls located just 700 meters apart continue to operate separately, each with a full structure.
-
Lula joins Mexico and Spain to defend Cuba after Trump threatens the island and says that the world cannot sleep and wake up every day with a president of the Republic threatening to go to war.
-
The report shows that the center of the global economy is shifting to the South, with BRICS and emerging markets growing above the global average while Europe barely reaches 1% and the United States spends trillions on wars.
-
BRICS countries lead the world ranking in hours worked, with India, China, Russia, and Brazil at the top of the list, while Germans work nearly a thousand hours less per year and earn much more.
Unauthorized Transaction: Scammers frequently claim there has been a suspicious transaction on your account and use this information to try to deceive the client.
Transfer Request: The fraudster may ask the account holder to make a transfer to “correct” the problem, but this is part of the scam.
Fear and Urgency: They attempt to create a sense of panic so that the victim acts without thinking, providing personal data or making a transaction.
According to the bank, the so-called fake call center scam, where the fraudster poses as a Bradesco employee to alert about a supposed unauthorized purchase or transfer, is responsible for 42% of the frauds suffered by account holders.
How to Protect Yourself?
Bradesco advises its account holders to follow a series of tips to avoid falling for these scams. Among the main recommendations are:
- Never provide your passwords, except through the bank’s official app.
- Enable two-factor authentication on WhatsApp and other messaging apps.
- Whenever possible, make transactions using your home wifi, avoiding public networks.
- Download banking apps only from official sources, such as Google Play or the Apple Store.
- Avoid clicking on links sent via text messages or emails that appear to be from the bank.
- Keep transaction limits low when you are away from home.
Thus, Bradesco emphasizes that it is crucial for account holders to contact the bank only through official channels to confirm any type of transaction or fraud suspicion.
How to Install the Bradesco App Safely?
For those who do not yet use the official Bradesco app, the bank advises that the download should be made only from the official app stores. On Android, simply search for the Bradesco app in Google Play, click on “Install,” and wait for completion. On iOS, the process is similar: just access the App Store, click on “Get,” and then “Open” the app when the installation is complete.
The installation of the Bradesco app is a simple yet effective measure to ensure that the account holder has secure and quick access to their account, avoiding falling for scams that simulate fake apps or fraudulent links.
In times of increasingly sophisticated scams, Bradesco highlights the importance of awareness and caution in every digital interaction. After all, a quick action can prevent significant financial headaches.
With this guidance, Bradesco remains committed to protecting its account holders and ensuring that its clients are not harmed by digital fraud.
With all these precautions in mind, are you really protected against the digital frauds that attempt to empty the accounts of Bradesco account holders?
