New compact plug-in hybrid SUV from BYD will be officially presented to the Brazilian public on June 9, arriving with DM-i technology, flex engine, national assembly in Camaçari, and emerges as one of the main bets of the Chinese manufacturer to compete with Hyundai Creta and Volkswagen T-Cross in one of the most important and competitive segments of the Brazilian automotive market in 2026
BYD is preparing one of its most important moves in the Brazilian market with the arrival of the Atto 2 DM-i flex, the plug-in hybrid version of the Yuan Pro.
The compact SUV will be presented to the Brazilian public on June 9, according to an invitation sent by the Chinese brand at the end of this week.
Additionally, the model is expected to arrive in stores a few weeks later, reinforcing the manufacturer’s strategy to grow in the country in 2026.

Harley-Davidson created an entry-level motorcycle that seems impossible for those who only know the brand’s big bikes: the X440 uses a 440 cc single-cylinder engine, delivers 27 hp, 38 Nm, a declared fuel consumption of 35 km/l, and showcases a small, rational, and much more accessible Harley in India.

With a twin-cylinder engine of 49.6 hp and a range exceeding 400 km, the new Honda NX500 2027 debuts with a 5” TFT panel, Showa suspension, HSTC torque control, dual-channel ABS, and unlimited mileage warranty.
The main novelty is the flex plug-in hybrid set, which is expected to make the Atto 2 DM-i the first BYD car with this configuration in Brazil.
According to Autoesporte, the confirmation reinforces statements made by Alexandre Baldy, BYD’s vice president in Brazil, in January 2026.
Hybrid SUV targets strong rivals in Brazil
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i arrives with a clear mission: to compete with Hyundai Creta and Volkswagen T-Cross.
These two models are among the top names in the compact SUV segment, one of the most competitive categories in the national market.
Therefore, BYD bets on technology, electrification, and competitive pricing to position the new model strongly.
The estimated price is around R$ 170,000, according to the initially released information.
Additionally, the SUV will have the advantage of the PHEV system, with external charging.
Meanwhile, full hybrids do not have this type of charging.
Therefore, technology emerges as one of the main arguments to attract consumers seeking energy efficiency and versatility.

National strategy may accelerate sales
The arrival of the Atto 2 DM-i is also part of a broader goal of BYD in Brazil.
The brand intends to grow 50% in sales in 2026, which could lead the manufacturer to about 180 thousand vehicles registered in the year.
In this scenario, the compact SUV appears as a central piece of the expansion.
According to Alexandre Baldy, the model has the potential to become the best-selling BYD car in Brazil, even surpassing the Dolphin Mini.
Moreover, the Atto 2 DM-i is expected to be launched with national assembly in Camaçari, Bahia, in CKD regime.
As informed by Baldy to Autoesporte, this strategy also involves models like Dolphin Mini, Song Pro, and King.
Thus, the manufacturer seeks to expand its presence in the country and strengthen its national industrial operation.
DM-i flex technology will be the main differential
The Atto 2 DM-i will have the same body and practically the same look as the Yuan Pro electric already sold in Brazil.
However, the big change will be in the propulsion system. The SUV will use DM-i technology, already applied in other BYD vehicles.
The mechanical base includes a 1.5 naturally aspirated engine, four cylinders, 16 valves, direct injection, and Atkinson cycle. This engine delivers 98 hp. Additionally, the electric motor generates 197 hp.
In Europe, the model features versions with 166 combined hp, equipped with a Blade battery of 7.8 kWh.
On the other hand, there is a configuration with 212 combined hp, equipped with an 18.3 kWh battery. In both versions, the focus is on energy efficiency associated with performance.
Autonomy and performance reinforce the proposal
In the two European versions, the maximum torque is 30.6 kgfm, generated by the electric motor.
In the 212 hp configuration, the Atto 2 DM-i accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
This number even surpasses the Fiat Pulse Abarth and Fastback Abarth, which need 7.6 seconds.
However, with the Brazilian flex engine, the final data will still be confirmed during the launch.
In the 166 hp version, the electric range reaches 40 km according to the WLTP cycle.
The 212 hp configuration reaches 90 km in electric mode, also according to the European WLTP cycle.
Even so, the numbers are expected to be lower during Inmetro’s homologation.
The combined range promised by the brand is close to 1,000 km, thanks to the 45-liter tank.
Additionally, the AC charging varies according to the version.
The 7.8 kWh battery accepts up to 3.3 kW.
Meanwhile, the 18.3 kWh battery supports up to 6.6 kW.
Thus, the model combines performance, range, and electrification in a single package.
Dimensions bring the model closer to the Yuan Pro
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i maintains a size similar to the electric Yuan Pro. The SUV is 4.33 meters long.
Additionally, it is 1.83 meters wide. The height reaches 1.68 meters.
In turn, the wheelbase measures 2.62 meters. The trunk offers 265 liters of capacity. Meanwhile, the curb weight reaches 1,620 kg.
Inside, the model features a digital dashboard of 8.8 inches and also includes a prominent multimedia center of 12.8 inches.
The internal set follows the technological proposal presented by the manufacturer in other models of the line.

BYD bets big on the new SUV to expand its presence in the Brazilian market
With this package, the manufacturer bets on electrification, national assembly, and plug-in hybrid technology to expand its participation in Brazil.
Moreover, the Atto 2 DM-i emerges as one of the brand’s most important launches for 2026.
According to information released by Autoesporte and confirmed by Alexandre Baldy, the model will play a strategic role in the commercial expansion of the Chinese manufacturer.
Meanwhile, expectations are growing among consumers who follow the evolution of electrified SUVs in the national market.
Now, it remains to be seen if the BYD Atto 2 DM-i flex will be able to win over consumers in one of the most competitive segments of the Brazilian market.
Does the new plug-in hybrid SUV have the potential to challenge Creta and T-Cross and become one of BYD’s best-selling vehicles in the country?
