The Project Aims to Expand Two MDAs and Replace Four Temporary Modules
Actemium signed a contract with the oil giant Petrobras for the supply of 6 Definitive Accommodation Modules – MDAs for the PRA-1 Platform, which is located in the Campos Basin and is responsible for the receipt and flow of oil production from the P-51, P-52, P-53, and P-55 platforms.
The project aims to expand two MDAs and replace four existing temporary accommodation modules with new Definitive Accommodation Modules. Thus, the cabins will meet the NR-37 requirements (regarding the quality of life on offshore platforms) and, by the end of the project, there will be 8 more spots available on board.
Comfort and Safety of Actemium’s Definitive Accommodation Modules
With the development of its definitive accommodation modules, Actemium ensured an increase in the capacity on Petrobras platforms from 110 to 142 people. The company used its excellence in multidisciplinary processes to design, manufacture, and install all systems. All of this was done in accordance with the rules of international classification societies and the new legal requirements established by NR-37.

90 billion barrels of oil, 1.669 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 84% of probable reserves in offshore areas are under the Arctic, and the melting ice that opens maritime routes and exposes this energy treasure is turning the North Pole into a strategic dispute between the USA, Russia, China, and Canada for oil, gas, navigation, and military power.

Petrobras announces an investment of R$ 2.8 billion in Amazonas to expand natural gas production in Urucu and modernize the river fleet, boosting energy, logistics, and the regional economy with new vessels adapted for operation in the Amazon.
Each Petrobras accommodation module has the capacity to house up to four people in two cabins and includes a bathroom and kitchen. Comfort and ergonomics are provided for its occupants, and the modules also offer extreme safety, with adequate insulation, robust piping, flame-resistant flooring, two air treatment and cleaning units. Loudspeaker boxes to reproduce the captain’s messages and Wi-Fi are available.
Actemium Uses Innovation to Manufacture the Modules
The company’s main innovation was the creation of the production mode for its accommodation modules. To meet the high demand from its clients, especially Petrobras, Actemium Offshore built a dedicated 10,000 square meter warehouse with a height of 30 meters and a 70-ton overhead crane. This allows the modules to be produced in series with up to four being manufactured at the same time.
The complete work of engineering, importing parts, manufacturing the structure, civil construction, and assembly of the accommodation modules for Petrobras platforms took about 10 months in total. This period is indeed short, considering the scale of the project, the multiple solutions developed, fulfilling all safety, ergonomics, and functionality requirements of NR-37.
