Selection of the New Navy Contest Offers Opportunities in Engineering, Nautical Sciences, Administration, and Other Strategic Areas; Registrations from April 28 to May 12

The Brazilian Navy published on Tuesday (22) the announcement of the new public contest aimed at filling 25 positions for higher-level officers. The selection includes various fields of education and offers an initial salary of R$ 9,070.60 after the training course, scheduled for March 2026. Registrations start on April 28 and go until May 12, exclusively through the official website.

The Navy contest seeks professionals who will join the so-called Complementary Boards, working in technical and administrative support roles for naval operations. The vacancies are intended for candidates with degrees in nautical sciences, engineering, administration, accounting, economics, biology, and physical education. To participate, candidates must be a maximum of 28 years old by June 30, 2026.

Initial Salary and Structure of the Military Career in the Brazilian Navy

The initial remuneration of R$ 9,070.60 refers to the amount paid to the officer after completing the training course. This amount consists of salary, military allowance, and benefits provided by law. A career in the Navy offers stability, a progression plan, medical and dental assistance, in addition to other benefits associated with military public service.

During the training course, the student is considered an active military member, with the right to meals, uniform, full assistance, and accommodation. The training lasts 34 weeks and will be held at the Admiral Wandenkolk Instruction Center (CIAW) in Rio de Janeiro.

What Areas Have Vacancies in the Navy Contest?

The new Navy contest offers opportunities for graduates in the following areas:

  • Nautical Sciences
  • Engineering (civil, production, electrical, electronic, cartographic, telecommunications, among others)
  • Biological Sciences
  • Physical Education
  • Administration
  • Accounting
  • Economics

All degrees require full graduation, with a diploma recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Candidates approved at all stages will enter as officers of the Navy, Marine Corps, or Supply, according to their profile and area of expertise.

Registration, Fee Waiver, and Deadlines

Registrations will be open from April 28 to May 12. Interested parties must access the official Navy contest website (www.inscricao.marinha.mil.br) and fill out the electronic form. The registration fee is R$ 140.

Candidates who wish to apply for a fee waiver may do so between April 28 and May 5. Those eligible for the benefit include registered individuals in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) and regular bone marrow donors, as provided by current legislation. The waiver must be requested at the time of registration, with the submission of supporting documentation.

Objective Test and Subsequent Stages of Selection

The objective test is scheduled for August 24 and will be conducted in 20 Brazilian cities. The exam will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions, with 25 on specific professional knowledge in the area, 15 in English, and a discursive essay with a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 lines.

The cities that will host the exam include São Paulo (SP), Santos (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brasília (DF), Porto Alegre (RS), Salvador (BA), Recife (PE), Fortaleza (CE), Belém (PA), Manaus (AM), among others.

In addition to the written test, the Navy contest includes other eliminatory and classificatory stages: health inspection, physical fitness test (TAF), psychological evaluation, title analysis, and document verification. These phases will take place between October and December 2025.

Training Course in Rio de Janeiro

The training for those approved will be held at the Admiral Wandenkolk Instruction Center (CIAW) in Rio de Janeiro. The course is scheduled to start on March 9, 2026, and lasts 34 weeks, with a boarding regime.

During the course, candidates will undergo physical training, technical instructions, and adaptation to military routine. At the end of the training, they will be declared Officers of the Brazilian Navy, entering the ranks according to their area of specialization.

Requirements to Participate in the Navy Contest

Among the main requirements for the Navy contest, the following stand out:

The Navy is also recognized for its structure of continuous training that allows for specializations and improvement courses throughout the professional journey. Entrance through contest is one of the main ways to access these opportunities.
