How Does the Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas Work?
Created as part of the More Teachers Program, the Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas has three central objectives:
- Encourage high-performing students to enter the teaching career.
- Reduce dropout rates in teacher training courses.
- Ensure that graduates enter the public education system.
To achieve these goals, the program grants monthly scholarships of R$ 1,050 to selected students, divided as follows:
- R$ 700 for immediate withdrawal, available month to month.
- R$ 350 deposited into a savings account, which can be withdrawn after completing the course and entering the public education network. This amount can be withdrawn up to five years after graduation.
The final result of the selection will be announced on April 14, and the first payments will begin on May 1.
Who Can Apply?
To compete for one of the 12,000 scholarships, students must meet the following criteria:
- Have enrolled in a face-to-face teacher training course through Sisu 2025.
- Have achieved at least 650 points on the Enem 2024.
- Not be enrolled in courses for which entry occurs through the Basic Entry Area (ABI) or that have a bachelor’s tied to the teacher training.
If the number of applicants exceeds the limit of 12,000 spots, priority will be given to candidates with:
- The highest score on the Enem 2024.
- The highest score on the Enem essay.
- The highest age (in case of a tie).
If there are remaining scholarships, they will be offered to students who entered higher education through the Prouni or Fies.

The Importance of the Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas for Education in Brazil
The financial incentive offered by the Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas is an important step to attract young talent to the teaching career, in addition to ensuring that students do not abandon their studies due to financial difficulties.
The shortage of qualified teachers has been an increasing challenge in Brazilian education.
Many teacher trainees end up giving up the profession due to working conditions and the low salaries offered in the public sector.
With this program, MEC aims to value teaching and provide better conditions for future educators.
