Brazilian Group Faces Challenges in the Automotive Industry and Evaluates New Alliances with Chinese Giants to Maintain Production in Goiás. Movement Promises Changes in the National SUV Market and Local Jobs.

The scenario of the Brazilian automotive sector underwent a turnaround in July 2025, when one of the main Chinese bets for the national market decided to end its partnership with the CAOA Group, leading the Brazilian company to seek alternatives among Chinese giants to maintain its operations at the Anápolis (GO) factory.

The breakdown of the collaboration directly impacted the planning of CAOA Manufacturer, which is now analyzing different possibilities to ensure the continuity of local production and avoid idleness in its assembly line.

After the termination of alliances with Hyundai and Subaru, and with the relationship with Chery in a delicate situation, the CAOA Group intensified negotiations to define a new strategic partner.

Among the Chinese brands under evaluation, according to information reported on Friday (01) by the website Auto Segredos, currently stand out the BAIC (Beijing Automotive Group Co) and Changan Automobile.

Both are considered pillars of the Chinese automotive industry and have a broad portfolio of vehicles, which can be decisive for the diversification of national production.

Automotive Partnerships and Alternatives for the Brazilian Market

In recent months, the movement surrounding this choice gained momentum after the registration of the Beijing X55 prototype, an SUV from the BAIC group, circulating in Brazilian territory.

The sighting, made by Bruno Paschoal, reinforced the expectation that BAIC could be CAOA’s next bet to revitalize the Anápolis plant.

According to industry experts, the presence of the X55 on the streets indicates tests of viability and adaptations to Brazilian consumer demands, a step considered essential before the official announcement of any partnership.

Since the beginning of 2024, CAOA Manufacturer has intensified its search for new business agreements.

The need to quickly find a solution became even more evident after the increase in competition and the arrival of new brands in the country.

Examples of this movement are the recent sightings of models such as the Changan Hunter pickup and the Avatr 11 SUV, both spotted testing near the Goiás factory.

These actions demonstrate CAOA’s willingness to maintain its relevance in the market and ensure job and income generation in the region.

CAOA’s partnership with Chery International, which resulted in the launch of the CAOA Chery brand in Brazil, has also undergone adjustments in light of the debut of the OMODA & JAECOO lines and the anticipated arrival of vehicles from Jetour.

Industry sources revealed that if Chery fully takes over the national operation, CAOA will remain responsible only for the Exeed brand, positioned in a premium segment.

The registration of the Beijing X55 by the BAIC group, however, demonstrates the urgency in establishing a new commercial agreement.

The central concern of the CAOA Group is to avoid having the Anápolis factory, an important industrial hub in the Midwest, operate at idle capacity, which could affect jobs and the local economy.

In this context, interest in BAIC and Changan has gained prominence in the company’s internal discussions.

Beijing X55: Technology and Performance in the National Automotive Sector

The BAIC Beijing X55 is a compact SUV recognized for its innovative design and advanced technological set.

Developed to compete in one of the most disputed segments of the Brazilian market, the X55 combines attributes valued by the national public, such as striking visuals, mechanical efficiency, and a high level of equipment.

Equipped with a 1.5 turbo engine, the Beijing X55 delivers approximately 177 horsepower, providing quick responses in both urban traffic and on highways.

The high torque allows for rapid accelerations, while the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission ensures smooth shifts and efficient performance utilization.

According to data from the manufacturer, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 8 seconds, recording an average consumption between 12 and 13 km/l, depending on usage conditions.

In terms of design, the model stands out for its futuristic lines, LED lighting, and sophisticated details, such as the 3D front grille and retractable door handles.

The alloy wheels, available in sizes of 18 or 19 inches, reinforce the sporty proposal of the utility, while the panoramic roof enhances the sense of space inside.

The interior finish follows the standard of Chinese brands that have been gaining space globally: the dual digital panel, consisting of an instrument cluster and multimedia center, offers intuitive control of vehicle functions.

The interior also includes customizable ambient lighting, premium upholstery seats, and features like heating, ventilation, voice commands, and parking assist.

With a generous wheelbase, the SUV provides comfort for all occupants, and the 350 liters trunk meets everyday needs.

The combination of modern design, efficient performance, and high technology standards makes the Beijing X55 a relevant alternative in the medium SUV segment, which continues to grow in Brazil.

Experts point out that the model could attract consumers interested in innovation and connectivity, as well as consolidate the presence of Chinese automakers in the country.

The advance of Chinese automakers in Brazil reflects a globally observed trend, where brands from the Asian country gain ground by offering high-tech products at competitive prices.

In the case of CAOA, the need to restructure its partnerships arises at a time of intense transformations in the automotive industry, marked by electrification, connectivity, and the quest for efficiency.

While negotiating with potential partners, CAOA reaffirms its commitment to national production and the development of the regional automotive sector.

The Anápolis factory, inaugurated over a decade ago, is considered strategic for attracting new investments and generating jobs in the state of Goiás.

In the current context, the search for a new Chinese partner—such as BAIC or Changan—is seen as an alternative to ensure the continuity of operations and to maintain a diversified portfolio, meeting the demand for SUVs and next-generation vehicles.

In light of this changing environment, which models and technologies from Chinese automakers do you believe should be prioritized in Brazil?

How can the entry of new partners influence competitiveness and innovation in the national automotive market?
