Chinese Brand Debuts In The Country With Electrified SUV And Plan To Produce Models In The Automotive Pole Of Goiana, Expanding Stellantis’ Presence In The Electric Vehicle Segment.

The Chinese automaker Leapmotor officially debuts in Brazil with the mid-size SUV C10, offered in two electrified versions, priced starting at around R$ 190 thousand and a plan to produce cars in the country in partnership with Stellantis, in the same industrial pole where models from Jeep, Fiat, and Ram are already produced, in Goiana, Pernambuco.

Owner of brands such as Fiat, Jeep, Peugeot, Citroën, and Ram, Stellantis has formed a global alliance with Leapmotor to expand its presence in electrified vehicles. The information was published by the portal Auto Papo this Tuesday (02).

In Brazil, this partnership allows the new automaker to use the commercial, logistics, and after-sales infrastructure of the group, instead of starting from scratch.

Leapmotor presents itself with a fully electrified portfolio and a strategy to position the C10 with prices close to or even lower than those of already known mid-size combustion SUVs to Brazilian consumers, betting on price as the main tool to popularize access to electric and hybrid cars.

Still at the starting line, the brand also confirms that other models, such as the B10, are already planned for the Brazilian market in the coming months, reinforcing the long-term plan and not just a one-time import action.

The Leapmotor C10 arrives as a mid-size SUV with two powertrain options, both with electric drive to the wheels.

The first option is the fully electric version, known as BEV, focused on urban and highway use with recharging at outlets and fast charging stations.

The second configuration is announced by the brand as Ultra-Hybrid, an extended range system that adds a 1.5-liter gasoline combustion engine, used only as a generator to power the battery when the charge is close to ending.

In this architecture, the vehicle continues to be powered by electric motors, as the combustion engine does not directly drive the wheels.

In Brazil, Leapmotor positions the electric C10 at around R$ 190 thousand, while the version with the range extender is around R$ 200 thousand.

The list prices are R$ 189,990 for the C10 EV and R$ 199,990 for the C10 Ultra-Hybrid, but public communication usually rounds to categories of “R$ 190 thousand” and “R$ 200 thousand.”

With these prices, the model directly enters the competition with mid-size hybrid and electrified SUVs from already established brands, such as BYD Song Pro, BYD Song Plus, and GWM Haval H6.

The automaker’s strategy is precisely to use this difference to accelerate the adoption of electrified vehicles among consumers who are still primarily considering the initial purchase cost.

Equipment, Range, And Usage Proposal

In addition to the electrified powertrain, the C10 is presented with an equipment package that includes driver assistance features, advanced connectivity, and comfort solutions already expected in the mid-size SUV segment.

Leapmotor highlights semi-autonomous driving technologies, a wide digital dashboard, and an integrated multimedia center.

In the electric version, the high-capacity battery allows sufficient range for daily use in urban centers, with the possibility of full recharging at home chargers overnight and fast recharging at public stations.

On the other hand, the C10 Ultra-Hybrid was designed for those who are still hesitant to depend solely on the charging infrastructure.

With the gasoline generator, the total range reaches significantly higher levels, reducing concerns about long trips.

National Production In Pernambuco On The Brand’s Radar

Stellantis confirmed that Leapmotor will be the fourth brand produced in the Automotive Pole of Goiana, in Pernambuco, currently responsible for models from Jeep, Fiat, and Ram.

The local production of the Chinese brand is planned to start in 2026, initially in SKD mode, involving at least the C10 and B10.

Inaugurated in 2015, the Goiana factory has already surpassed the mark of 2 million vehicles produced, with an installed capacity of around 280 thousand units per year.

The complex assembles the SUVs Jeep Renegade, Compass, and Commander, in addition to the Fiat Toro pickup and the Ram Rampage.

With Leapmotor’s arrival, the pole gains new weight in the group’s electrification strategy, which aims to consolidate not only the assembly of vehicles there but also attract suppliers for electrified models.

Impact Of Leapmotor On The Brazilian Market For Electrified SUVs

With the C10, Leapmotor will compete in one of the most competitive segments in the country, that of mid-size SUVs, but with a relevant differentiator: all versions are electrified and maintain electric traction.

The promise of national production in Pernambuco is likely to gain importance in the coming years, especially due to local content policies, possible tax reductions, and greater ease for parts replenishment.

With another brand committed to manufacturing in Brazil, the electrified vehicle market could gain scale, favoring price competition and expanding the network of specialized services.

In this scenario, Leapmotor’s arrival with an electric SUV priced around R$ 190 thousand, combined with the plan to nationalize production in the same pole housing the Jeep factory in Goiana, raises a direct question for the market: Will this strategy be enough to boost the expansion of electric cars in the country?
