Oil workers organize a strike at the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery (Repar) of Petrobras, due to deaths caused by covid-19 in the last few days

oil workers decide to do serious work at Repar! According to the denunciation document filed last Saturday (03/04), by directors of Sindipetro Paraná and Santa Catarina, the management of Refinaria Presidente Getúlio Vargas (Repar), fails to comply with state decree number 7.145 of March 2021, maintaining the shutdown of maintenance and puts lives at risk, even after three workers at the unit died from Covid-19.

According to Alexandro Guilherme Jorge, president of Sindipetro Paraná and Santa Catarina, there is evidence of contamination within the facilities. "A health strike is bound to happen if there isn't a major change in the company's attitude about the conditions of the facilities and care for people circulating in Repar".

The new decree of the State Government (7230/21) that suspends activities that cause crowds in closed spaces and for corporate reasons, as is the case of the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery (fix), was published on April 03 and came into effect last Sunday (04/04).

Petrobras intends to include another 2 workers for Repar's maintenance stop activity and oil workers foresee a strike

The refinery's management intends to add, as of April 12th, around two thousand workers to the unit's routine to continue the programming of the gigantic industrial procedure started on the last March 29th.

According to the oil workers' union, the pre-stop services, already in progress, have around 800 professionals in maintenance workshops and other shared environments. That is, agglomerations are inevitable in industrial areas, scaffolding, equipment and workshops.

The victims are workers Carlos Eduardo Correa dos Santos (Cadu), 45 years old, who died on April 01; Marcos da Silva, 39, on March 25; and Rodrigo de Souza Germano, 36, on March 22.
