Today, Monday (22/03), the oil tankers of the Betim Gabriel Passos Refinery (Regap), located in Betim, in the state of Minas Gerais, will go on strike for an indefinite period. Recently, the Petroleum Workers Union of the State of Minas Gerais (Sindipetro-MG) notified a new outbreak of COVID-19 at Regap, a Petrobras refinery, that in March alone, more than 200 workers were infected with the virus.

Oil workers from Minas Gerais want a position from Petrobras
In a note, Sindipetro-MG informed that it asked the MPT – Public Ministry of Labor, to ask Petrobras for clarification on the progress of the disease at the refinery. According to an investigation by the entity, in the week of March 15, the site registered more than 100 positive cases, 84 of which from the same department. Among them, 11 employees are still hospitalized due to complications.
Regap is currently undergoing maintenance, which has generated a large number of people in the area. Maintenance work began on February 28 and is expected to last 30 days. As a result, over 2.000 workers were added and the number nearly doubled. There are even professionals from other states who are working on this maintenance.

The Unique Petroleum Federation - FUP, reported in a statement that contamination of covid-19 on oil exploration platforms has increased. According to the union's investigation, due to the increase in cases of diseases, the P-38 platform of the Marlim Sul oil field, in the Campos Basin (RJ), is “partially operational”.
Petrobras confirmed that it reduced the production of platforms P-40 and P-56 in the Campos Basin to reduce the amount of oil received by the P-38, storing and transferring oil produced by other units. Platforms P-40 and P-56 did not show the disease among the crew.
