With Million-Dollar Investments, The Multinational Plans to Significantly Expand Its Fertilizer Production in Northeast Brazil

Mosaic, the American multinational leader in the Brazilian fertilizer market, is preparing a significant expansion of its operations in Brazil, specifically in the northeast region. With investments of R$ 400 million, the company plans to start producing small volumes of fertilizer in Palmirante, Tocantins, with a forecast to reach a total capacity of 1 million tons of fertilizers annually by 2028. Additionally, the multinational is accelerating its investments in its plants in the North and Northeast regions of the country, according to the website Revista IstoE.

Mosaic Fertilizers aims with its investments to reinforce its presence in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. The company plans to take advantage of the strategic location of the new plant in Palmirante, Tocantins, to facilitate the unloading of trucks and railcars, the storage of raw materials, and the distribution of products, especially in the Matopiba region.

Furthermore, at the Taquari-Vassouras Industrial Complex in Rosário do Catete, Sergipe, Mosaic Fertilizers is investing to expand the processing of potassium, increasing the capacity to 450,000 tons in 2024, a significant increase from the 300,000 tons produced the previous year. This expansion will be made possible through an investment of R$ 800 million made in 2023, which included the purchase of machinery and infrastructure improvements.

Investments in the Northeast and Future Projections for the Fertilizer Company

The American headquarters of Mosaic Fertilizers has shown its commitment to the Brazilian market in the northeast, with investments in over 20 industrial complexes operating in the country. In addition, the company expects its own operation at the port of Paranaguá (PR) to support business growth, with an unloading capacity of 3 million tons of fertilizer per year in the northeast.

For 2024, Mosaic projects a 3% growth in fertilizer deliveries, reaching 47 million tons. This increase aligns with the expectation of growth in demand for fertilizers in the main producing regions, especially in cotton cultivation, which is expected to expand its planted area by 10%.
With its investments and ambitious plans, Mosaic is positioned to play a crucial role in supporting the growth of Brazilian agriculture, providing the necessary inputs to increase productivity and efficiency in the field.
