CCCC Confirmed Interest in Building the Shipyard in Paraíba That Could Generate Six Thousand New Jobs, Along with Other Works in Other States in the Region
The China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC), a multinational engineering firm involved in construction projects and infrastructure operation, reported that it is open to exploring the potential of the Northeast region of the country. Last week, the governor of Paraíba, João Azevedo, met with representatives of CCCC and presented the plans for the implementation of the Shipyard for naval repairs in the municipality of Lucena and the expansion of the Port of Cabedelo to the Chinese investors, highlighting the Government’s actions to maintain fiscal security and business viability.

In addition to Paraíba, the multinational showed interest in other projects in the northeastern region, such as the construction of the Bridge between Salvador and Itaparica Island, in the state of Bahia, and the expansion of the Port of São Luis for the export of agricultural production and minerals in Maranhão.

Shipyard in Lucena
Considered a gigantic project with great economic importance for the Paraíba cities of Lucena and Cabedelo, the shipyard will have the capacity to perform maintenance and naval repairs and accommodate medium and large ships. This will be an undertaking that is expected to inject billions into the state’s economy and generate thousands of new jobs.
According to Gustavo Feliciano, Secretary of Tourism and Economic Development of the State of PB, “Lucena is a city of 13 thousand inhabitants that will receive six thousand new jobs, transforming the region’s reality,” he commented. The mayor of Lucena, Marcelo Monteiro, also expressed gratitude for the State Government’s actions towards the construction of the shipyard and emphasized that this project will boost the municipality’s development, providing opportunities for the people of Paraíba.
