With New Job Creation, the Plant Should Close the Year of 2021 with 800 Thousand Tons of Ethanol and Sugar Produced

The Taquari Plant, located in the village of Miranda, in the municipality of Capela, Sergipe, inaugurated last Friday (15) the expansion of its industrial plant. With the expansion of production at the facility, the sugarcane processing industry, which is part of the Samam business group, increases its production capacity from 700 thousand to 1.25 million tons (volume of processed cane), generating over 2,700 direct jobs. Production Expansion at the Plant

The inauguration ceremony was attended by businesspeople and political authorities. During the event, a bust was also inaugurated in honor of Manoel Aguiar Menezes Neto, known as “Manelito,” the idealizer of the project founded more than 14 years ago. The plant has the support of the Government of Sergipe through the Sergipano Industrial Development Program (PSDI). Governor Belivaldo Chagas highlighted the efforts of the business group, which continued to invest and generate jobs even during the pandemic.

“It is a strong group that, despite the difficulties of the economy and the pandemic, has been seeking to expand more and more. This generates more jobs and income, and we are happy because, after all, Sergipe wins. It is a genuinely Sergipano group that believes, invests, and, therefore, expands this plant here with high investments thinking, precisely, about the progress of Sergipe, the Northeast, and Brazil”, emphasized Governor Belivaldo Chagas.

The superintendent of the Samam group, Henrique Brandão Menezes Júnior, reinforced the support provided by the state government for the implementation of the new investment plant and expansion of job vacancies at the plant. “Without the PSDI, there is no way to expand, to invest in industry, and the government helps by granting tax exemptions and the entrepreneur invests and creates jobs. If it weren’t for the support of the state government, we wouldn’t have been able to generate these more than 2,700 jobs at the plant. This property where the industry is, used to be for cattle farming, and we already had this area, this amount of land, only with cattle. We had 25 employees here, so with the investment the group made with the industry, we went from 25 to more than 2,700,” he explained.

The Investments That Were Made in the Unit

The industry specializes in the production of ethanol and sugar, in addition to generating the electricity necessary for the supply of its own facilities. From energy production, the plant maintains the irrigation of the 3,000 hectares of sugarcane that surround the unit. With the expansion, the expectation is that the factory’s productivity will double, producing 700 thousand bags of sugar and 32 million liters of ethanol.

The Taquari industry distributes its production locally and regionally, with 35% allocated to Sergipe and 65% to Bahia. The expansion at the plant is the result of an investment of R$ 50 million, which provided improvements such as a new and larger mill, a new generator, and the expansion of the entire production line and boiler.
