With a workload of 180 hours, the course consists of five thematic modules that focus on contemporary teaching practices, including maker culture, hybrid teaching, digital art, and digital educational resources.
According to the Ministry, the content was planned to primarily meet the needs of basic education teachers, but it is available to any interested party.
Maker Culture and Practical Learning
The first module addresses the so-called maker culture, a concept that encourages learning through experimentation and project creation.
According to the course material, the proposal is to present the origins of the movement, its adaptations during the remote teaching period of the pandemic, and the possibilities of application in the current educational context.
It also presents tools and methods aimed at pedagogical practice.
Hybrid Teaching and New Methodologies
The second module deals with hybrid teaching, a format that combines in-person and online activities.
The content explains the theoretical foundations of this model, the planning of classes with different dynamics, and the organization of synchronous and asynchronous activities.
The proposal is to show how the model can be structured from learning projects, in accordance with guidelines used in public and private schools.
Digital Resources and Trends in E-Learning
The third module is dedicated to Digital Educational Resources (REDs), which include games, collaborative platforms, and interactive content used as support for teaching.
The material discusses the use of these resources in the classroom, the implementation challenges, and the perspectives on distance learning after 2020, a period when the modality gained greater reach.
It also presents examples of international platforms and initiatives.
Application of Resources in Language Teaching
The fourth module focuses on the use of REDs for teaching English and Spanish.
According to the MEC, the content seeks to integrate the use of technologies with the competences outlined in the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC).
It presents games, applications, audiovisual resources, and virtual communities that can assist in the learning of foreign languages in basic education.
The material also explains how to develop lesson plans using these tools.
Art and Technology in Basic Education
The final module addresses the relationship between art and educational technologies, highlighting strategies for teaching visual arts at different levels of basic education.
The course presents the competences of the BNCC related to the area, examples of pedagogical practices mediated by technology, and activity suggestions that integrate art and digital resources.
According to the provided content, the module also proposes reflections on the role of art in students’ education and on the future of artistic teaching.
Open and Free Training
Although it has teachers and basic education professionals as its primary audience, the course is available to anyone interested in understanding the use of technologies in educational practice.
According to the MEC, the training aims to contribute to the expansion of continuous training for educators and encourage the adoption of active teaching methodologies.
The classes are offered in a 100% distance format, through the Avamec platform, a virtual environment that gathers free courses promoted by the Ministry of Education.
Each participant can complete the activities according to their available time.
Registrations and Certification
According to information disclosed by the SEB, 1,580 spots are available for the course on improvement in Education and Technology, filled by order of registration.
The registration is done directly on the Avamec platform, where the participant must create an account and enroll in the course.
After completing all steps and passing the evaluations, the participant will receive a free digital certificate issued by the Department of Basic Education.
The course is part of the MEC’s actions aimed at the continuous training of teachers and the dissemination of pedagogical practices that utilize technological resources.
