The Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in partnership with the Open University of Brazil (UAB), has opened the selection process for the free extension course “Training for Teaching and Management for Education of Ethnic-Racial and Quilombola Relations.” This free course offers 3,750 spots for teachers and managers in basic education in the public networks of Santa Catarina. With a focus on training and continuing education, it promotes inclusive and anti-racist education.
The online course (EAD) aims to develop competencies in teaching and management to strengthen education regarding ethnic-racial and quilombola relations, according to the guidelines of the MEC. With a duration of 120 hours, the course will be offered remotely, divided into four modules. Activities include online classes, discussion forums, and seminars, all conducted in the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) of UFSC.
Spots and Locations Offered
A total of 3,750 spots are offered for this online course (EAD), available exclusively for residents of Santa Catarina who work as teachers or managers in public schools. If the spots are not fully filled, a new call may be made, and if necessary, candidates will be placed on a waiting list.

Selection Process and Affirmative Actions
The selection for the free course will be made by analyzing documents that prove the candidate’s connection to the area of education. Additionally, 25% of the spots are reserved for affirmative actions, serving Black, mixed-race, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, transgender people, and transvestites. Candidates for quotas must have a self-declaration and, in case of a disability, a medical report.
Requirements for Enrollment in the Free Course
To enroll in the free online course (EAD), the candidate must prove their connection as a teacher or manager in the public education network and reside in Santa Catarina. It is necessary to have internet access and a computer to participate in the online activities. During registration, the candidate must submit copies of identity documents, a recent proof of residence, and a declaration of their affiliation with the educational institution.
