While many focus only on batteries, Toyota is heavily investing in electric trucks with third-generation fuel cells and has signed an agreement with Isuzu for the mass production of a light model expected to arrive in 2027.
This model, which shares the GM Ultium platform, is produced in the same factory as the Chevrolet Equinox EV and Blazer EV models. This partnership between Honda and GM appears to be exclusive to this project.
Additionally, the partnership extends to the Acura ZDX model, which also uses the same Ultium platform and will be produced in Mexico. Both models are larger than the current Honda CR-V and are expected to occupy a higher position in the automaker’s product line.
Honda Is Investing About US$ 14 Billion In The Construction Of A Gigafactory
In Canada, Honda is investing about US$ 14 billion in the construction of a gigafactory. This investment has even drawn the attention of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who met directly with Honda representatives, according to information from the GM Authority website.
The collaboration between Honda and GM will continue until the end of the Prologue’s lifecycle, expected in 2026, when a new line of electric models will be introduced at the Canadian factory, the majority of which are expected to be mid-sized.
Honda SUV Will Be Available In Three Trim Levels: EX, Touring, And Elite
The Honda Prologue will be available in three trim levels: EX, Touring, and Elite. The SUV is equipped with 21-inch wheels, an 11-inch digital display, and an 11.3-inch infotainment system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The 2024 Honda Prologue notably stands out for its wide wheelbase of 3,094 millimeters, the same measurement found in the Blazer EV, a common feature in dedicated electric vehicles. To provide context, the Honda CR-V has a wheelbase of 2,701 mm, while the Passport has approximately 2,820 mm. In terms of overall dimensions, the Prologue measures 4,877 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width, and 1,643 mm in height.
Honda Prologue Comes With 292 HP Engine And Promises A Range Of Up To 483 KM
On the mechanical side, the Prologue will be offered with single or dual motor options. Although detailed specifications have not yet been fully revealed, it is known that the all-wheel-drive version features 292 HP and 46 kgfm of torque. As for the range, Honda estimates that the model with an 85 kWh battery will reach a range of 483 km. However, this distance may reduce to 418 km if the vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive and larger wheels.
For a full battery recharge, the 2024 Honda Prologue’s 11.5 kW home station requires approximately 8 hours. Additionally, there will be an option for a portable charging kit of 7.6 kW. The vehicle also supports a rapid DC charging of 155 kW, which can add about 107 km of range in just 10 minutes. In comparison, competitors such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID.4 offer DC charging capacities of 170 kW and 220 kW, respectively.
Is The Honda Prologue Coming To Brazil?
The possible arrival of the Honda Prologue SUV in Brazil is highly anticipated. After all, the global trend of electric vehicles has been gaining momentum and the Brazilian market is becoming increasingly receptive to this technology.
Honda’s initiative in electric models increases the likelihood of the Prologue being introduced in Brazil. Mexico, having an export agreement with Brazil and Argentina, makes it possible for the Prologue to be considered a top-tier model in the Brazilian market, positioned above the pricier versions of the CR-V, Hybrid, and Touring.
How Much Will The 2024 Honda Prologue Cost?
The price of the new 2024 Honda Prologue SUV has not yet been officially defined, as the vehicle has not been launched. However, it is speculated that the value may range from 48,000 to 58,000 dollars, which corresponds approximately to R$ 237,000 to R$ 287,000.
Toyota should be on alert; with promising features and the backing of a renowned brand like Honda, the Prologue could represent an excellent addition to the array of electric cars available in Brazil. However, we need to wait for more information to confirm the launch details and assess how this model will position itself in our market, especially compared to other electric vehicles from Honda.
