In October 2025, the retail of cars and light commercials summed about 247 thousand registrations. The Tera breaks the order and pressures the leaders in the top 10.

The ranking of October 2025 brought two clear messages to the Brazilian market. The Fiat Strada remains sovereign in the total of light vehicles, but the Volkswagen Tera became the topic of the month by appearing in 2nd place.

In total, sales of cars and light commercials closed near 247 thousand units, signaling consumer appetite even with selective credit.

From January to October, the country has already totaled 2.05 million licensed light vehicles, a moderate advance compared to 2024, with networks adjusting stocks and mix.

The podium still holds an element of suspense: the Tera not only surpassed traditional rivals but also led among passenger cars, changing the hierarchy.

Top 10 of October 2025: Who Sold More

At the top, the Fiat Strada confirmed leadership with 14,041 registrations. The surprise came right after: the Volkswagen Tera hit 10,162 units and took 2nd place overall.

The Fiat Argo closed in 3rd with 9,981, while the Hyundai HB20 came in 4th with 9,687, keeping the competition among popular hatchbacks heated in the capitals.

In 5th position, the Volkswagen Polo recorded 9,150; the Hyundai Creta appeared 6th with 8,679, reinforcing the strength of compact SUVs in retail.

The Chevrolet Onix totaled 7,439 and ranked 7th; right after came the Volkswagen T-Cross, 8th with 7,113, benefiting from normalized production.

Closing the top 10, the Honda HR-V made 6,711 (9th) and the Volkswagen Saveiro registered 6,437 (10th), ensuring four VW models among the ten.

The Suspense of the Month: Why Did the Tera Appear in 2nd

The Volkswagen Tera was the best-selling passenger car of the month. The volume above 10 thousand indicates strong traction of mix, price, and availability, with a direct impact on the brand’s share. Learn more about the Tera:

Volkswagen itself celebrated the performance and highlighted the presence of Polo, T-Cross, and Saveiro in the top 10, reinforcing the portfolio strategy across different segments.

Mid-month reports already signaled the model’s rise, with the Tera in the top 2 of the fortnight and gaining pace in retail, especially outside the rental car axis.

The collateral effect was immediate, the competition between hatchbacks and SUVs became more open, while rivals adjust incentives to preserve margins and stock rotation.

Market Thermometer: Volumes and Context

The consolidated October figure of 247 thousand light vehicles confirms an active retail environment, with 2,053,568 units for the year and growth in 2025 compared to the first ten months of 2024.

Publications that track the sector daily also reported growth compared to September and a slight decline in the annual base, aligned with readings from sector consultancies.

In the background, the disruption in the Toyota supply chain after the storm in Porto Feliz (SP) reduced the supply of Corolla and Corolla Cross, affecting the ranking.

The automaker started today (11/3) the gradual resumption in Sorocaba/Indaiatuba with imported engines, which may restore volumes in the upcoming cycles.

What This Top 10 Signals for November

The Strada maintains the crown among light commercials, but the “new fact” is the Tera as a balance beam in the passenger retail. If it maintains the pace, it will reorder the podium.

With four VWs in the top 10 and Hyundai stable with HB20 and Creta, the competition for mix and incentives is expected to intensify, especially in regions with competitive ICMS.

The recomposition of Toyota may revive the medium segment, while GM and Honda attempt to capture opportunities in segments with greater price elasticity.

For the consumer, the scenario suggests tactical campaigns and better delivery times for models with normalized production and dealership stock.

Do you think that the Tera in 2nd place was just a matter of supply or the beginning of a structural change in the Brazilian taste for compact SUVs? Is Strada’s leadership secure or will we see a new overall leader by December? Leave your opinion in the comments.
