QJ Motor, which becomes SBM in Brazil, prepares two 300cc bikes to face the CB 300F, the leader in low displacement. On paper, the Chinese have an advantage, with liquid cooling and up to 32.6 hp against Honda’s 24.7 hp. But the numbers are still preliminary and there is no confirmed price or date.
The entry-level motorcycle segment in Brazil is about to become even more competitive. QJ Motor, a Chinese giant that has adopted the brand SBM here, is preparing two 300cc motorcycles to compete head-to-head with the category queen, the Honda CB 300F Twister. The news was revealed by the channel Bill Motoka, specialized in motorcycles, and promises to stir interest among those eyeing low displacement.
For now, the message is more promise than reality, and it’s worth starting with a warning. The technical specifications of the two Chinese bikes are still preliminary, taken from the QJ Motor catalog, and there is no confirmed price or launch date in Brazil. Even so, the circulating numbers are enough to unsettle those who today only considered the CB 300F: the two newcomers arrive with liquid cooling and more horsepower than Honda.
SBM and the Chinese offensive in low displacement

SBM, an acronym for Shineray do Brasil Motors, is the premium division that the Chinese manufacturer Shineray created for the Brazilian market, in partnership with QJ Motor, one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in China. According to Autopapo, the brand debuted at the Interlagos Festival 2025, held between May 29 and June 1, in São Paulo.

Cheaper than a brand new Fiat Cronos, this used SUV offers a giant 516-liter trunk, a 1.0 Turbo 200 flex engine, CVT automatic transmission, and six airbags; the 2023 Fiat Fastback Impetus positions itself as a more complete alternative than the entry-level Cronos for those seeking more for the same budget.
The ambition of the operation is not small. CEO José Edson Medeiros summarized the plan to Autopapo directly. “Honoring our position as the third largest automaker in sales in the country, we will bring 20 to 25 motorcycles to the racetrack with engine capacities ranging from 150 to 600 cc,” stated the executive, making it clear that SBM wants to target several segments at the same time.
This package includes the two 300cc models. Instead of pushing a single model, QJ Motor bets on the strategy of offering more than one motorcycle in the same engine capacity with different proposals, precisely to capture distinct segments of the low engine capacity market. One is more geared towards daily use, the other is more sporty, and both aim directly at the clientele of the CB 300F.
The two 300cc: one street and one naked
The first is the SRK 300S, with a street style. According to preliminary information shown by the Bill Motoka channel, it features a single-cylinder 292 cm³ engine with liquid cooling and about 28.6 horsepower, as well as inverted suspension, disc brakes with ABS on both channels, a TFT panel, and a weight of 162 kg. It’s the more comfortable option, designed for city riding, directly facing the CB 300F.
The second is the SRK 300SA, a naked bike with a more aggressive look and sporty spirit. According to the preview, it has a single-cylinder DOHC 299.1 cm³ engine, also with liquid cooling, more powerful, reaching about 32.6 horsepower, and even lighter, at just 144 kg. In return, it sacrifices some passenger comfort for a more inclined riding posture.
It’s worth repeating the warning not to create false expectations. These numbers come from the global catalog of QJ Motor and what the Bill Motoka channel found, but the Brazilian configuration, final name, and equipment may change when, and if, the bikes are indeed homologated as SBM here.
Why they target the CB 300F (and where they have an advantage)
The choice of target is not by chance. The Honda CB 300F Twister is the most popular street bike in the country in the low engine capacity segment, and precisely for this reason, it has become the trophy that every competitor wants. According to Motoo, Honda uses a single-cylinder 293.5 cm³ engine, but with an important difference: it is air-cooled and delivers 24.7 horsepower at 7,500 rpm.
That’s where the Chinese try to attack. While the CB 300F bets on the simplicity of air cooling, the two QJ Motor models come with liquid cooling, which helps maintain performance during intense use, and with more power on paper, 28.6 and 32.6 horsepower against the Honda‘s 24.7. For those who only look at the technical specifications, the advantage of the foreign models is clear.
However, technical specifications aren’t everything, and Honda has advantages that don’t appear in the power table. The CB 300F costs from R$ 24,657 in the CBS version and R$ 25,637 in the ABS version, according to Motoo, and carries the brand’s reliability, service network, and resale value, factors that weigh heavily on the Brazilian’s pocket when financing a low-displacement motorcycle.
What is still unknown
The deciding point remains open: the price. It doesn’t matter if a Chinese model has more horsepower if it arrives expensive, because the CB 300F buyer tends to be sensitive to every real in the installment. Without the list price of the two 300cc models from SBM, it’s impossible to say whether they will actually bother Honda or just remain a technical specification talk.
There’s also the issue of trust. A new Chinese brand still needs to prove durability, workshop network, and parts availability in Brazil, three points where Honda is far ahead. QJ Motor and SBM have been investing in this, with a strong presence at the Interlagos Festival, but it’s the kind of reputation that only time builds.
For now, what we have is a promising movement and good news for the consumer. More competition in low-displacement tends to push prices down and technology up, and the winner is the one who goes to the dealership. We await official confirmation to know if the threat to the CB 300F is real or just marketing.
The two 300cc models from QJ Motor that should arrive as SBM show that the Brazilian low-displacement market has become a battlefield, and that the leadership of the CB 300F is no longer so assured. On paper, the Chinese models offer more power and liquid cooling than Honda, but the game is only decided with price, trust, and service network on the table.
And you, would you trade the security of Honda for a stronger and cheaper Chinese model, or do you still trust the good old CB 300F more? Share your thoughts in the comments.
