What Limits Would You Cross to Fulfill a Childhood Dream? For Antônio de Matos, the Mason Responsible for the Helicopter Project with a Beetle Engine, This Search Has No Limits!
Antônio de Matos, a 40-year-old mason from Bahia, is about to fulfill a childhood dream that seemed impossible. With determination and creativity, he is building his own helicopter, equipped with a Beetle engine, in a project that has lasted five years and gained intensity in the last 10 months. Let’s check out the details of this project?
Helicopter with Beetle Engine?
The helicopter, a true work of ingenious art, has a structure made of iron and fiberglass, with steel screws that make it “light, round, and resistant,” as Antônio described. The aircraft is approximately 4 meters tall and almost 1 meter wide, designed to accommodate only the pilot.
The dream of flying has always accompanied Antônio, but the lack of financial resources led him to seek a solution on his own. “I have always dreamed of flying. Since I didn’t have money, I decided to make my own,” revealed Antônio in an interview with Bahia Notícias.

Investment of R$ 28 Thousand in the Helicopter with Beetle Engine
Throughout the project, Antônio invested around R$ 28 thousand in his creation, and the most impressive part is that he is doing it without any kind of sponsorship.
“Just me and God, working day and night,” he stated. When the helicopter is ready to take off, Antônio has a clear goal: to reach an altitude of five thousand feet, which is just over 1.5 thousand meters.
However, the date of the helicopter’s first flight is still not set, and Antônio is not in a hurry. He wants to make sure everything is safe before taking off. “I don’t know the day yet. I’ll only do it when I feel that it will really be safe,” he concluded.

The story of Antônio de Matos is a remarkable example of determination, creativity, and perseverance. His project to build a helicopter on his own is an inspiration to all who seek to fulfill their dreams, regardless of the obstacles that may arise along the way. Bahia and Brazil have a true inventor among them, proving that the sky is no longer the limit when it comes to dreams and dedication.
