Authorization Was Granted to Petrobras by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and Published This Friday (06/14) in the Official Gazette of the Union
Petrobras obtained authorization from the Ministry of Mines and Energy to export surplus Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) through maritime terminals in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, and Ceará.
The authorization was granted by the deputy minister of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Marisete Fátima Dadald Pereira, but Petrobras will have to ensure the full supply of the domestic natural gas market.
Another condition imposed by Marisete was the submission, always by the 30th of each month, of information regarding exports to the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP).

Cheaper than new HB20, Onix, and Argo, this German sedan offers a 510-liter trunk, a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine, a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, and well-known mechanics; the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta Comfortline still draws attention in the used car market.
The deputy minister also stated that, “the surplus LNG to be exported may consist of a cargo resulting from a single import or from a mix of imported cargos from different suppliers who have contracts with Petrobras.”
The TAG
It is worth noting that Petrobras will continue to use the natural gas transportation services provided by TAG, through the existing contracts between the two companies, without any impact on its operations and the delivery of natural gas to its customers.
The concern arises after Petrobras completed last Thursday (06/13), the sale of 90% of its stake in Transportadora Associada de Gás S.A. (“TAG”) to the group formed by ENGIE and the Canadian fund Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ).
The transaction was closed with a total payment of R$ 33.5 billion to Petrobras, with approximately R$ 2 billion allocated to settle TAG’s debt with BNDES, and occurred only after the STF’s clearance.
