Petrobras Finally Opens The Proposal Submission Season For FPSO That Will Operate In The Santos Basin With Companies Fiercely Competing For This Bid.

After several delays in the bidding process for the chartering of the FPSO Búzios V, Petrobras moves on to the next stage for this unit that will operate in the Santos Basin. In the oil sector, industry experts say that large foreign companies have already started competing (in a good way) to see who can secure the contract for this unit, and it seems the competition is quite tight. So far, there are three major groups: Examar from Belgium, Misc from Malaysia, and MODEC from Japan.

Regardless of who wins the contract, all must have the expertise to operate a chartered platform that can produce around 180,000 barrels of oil daily and about 6 million m³ of gas. The contract provides for a chartering period of at least 21 years, which can be extended if necessary for the same period. The expected date for this FPSO to become operational and start producing is in 2012, under the onerous assignment regime.

This asset is part of the Santos Basin and is located in the northern sector of the asset. Petrobras Started Producing This In The Búzios Field In April This Year, With Unit P-74. According to Petrobras’s plans, in addition to the 74, there will be 4 more units to occupy Búzios between the years 2018 and 2021, including of course Búzios 5, all designed to operate in the ranges of 150 thousand barrels of oil and 6 million cubic meters of gas.
