Petrobras Starts Production at Farfan, with Deepest Well in the Company’s History, Approximately 2,500 Meters
Petrobras announced yesterday (27) that it has advanced in oil and gas production in deep waters. This time, the company began, on the last day 22, the Long Duration Test (TLD) of Farfan, located approximately 70 km off the coast of Sergipe, with a water depth of approximately 2,500 meters.

The Long Duration Test (TLD) is used to test the reservoir’s behavior in production and thus obtain the characteristics of the produced oil. This is the first TLD conducted in ultra-deep northeastern waters. Furthermore, this is the deepest well producing oil and gas for Petrobras in Brazil.

During the conduct of these tests, the expected average production is approximately 7 thousand barrels of oil per day and 500 thousand cubic meters per day of associated gas.
The FPSO responsible for conducting the tests is the FPSO Cidade de São Vicente, which will last about 180 days, with demobilization planned for the second half of 2020. Farfan is located in the BM-SEAL-11 concession, with 60% Petrobras (operator) and 40% IBV.
In the phase prior to the TLD, a discovery assessment plan (PAD) was conducted and found the presence of oil of excellent quality in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin region. With the tests underway, Petrobras aims to determine which will be the next development projects in the region.
