Piauí Strengthens Its Leadership in Renewable Energy with the Commissioning of the Panorama Photovoltaic Complex in Ribeiro Gonçalves, Consolidating the State as a Benchmark in Clean Energy in Brazil.
The municipality of Ribeiro Gonçalves, in southern Piauí, has just gained prominence in the Brazilian energy sector. As reported this Wednesday, 25, the Panorama Photovoltaic Complex has been commissioned, consisting of 99 generating units distributed across three plants, which together total 300 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity.
The enterprise marks another important step in consolidating the state as a leader in the renewable energy sector.
Federal Government Celebrates Strategic Progress
During the inauguration announcement, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, highlighted the project’s relevance for the country. “We celebrate an important milestone with the commissioning of the Panorama Photovoltaic Complex. This venture strengthens our renewable matrix, attracting more investment and generating thousands of jobs for the population,” he stated.

Solar panels at sea can generate up to 12% more energy than land-based plants, study finds: Researchers from Taiwan discovered that offshore solar panels take advantage of the natural cooling of water to increase electrical efficiency, reduce heat losses, and expand renewable energy production in regions with limited available land space.

Fernando de Noronha begins unprecedented energy transformation with a R$ 350 million solar plant that promises to replace diesel generation and change the island’s sustainable future by 2027.
The project is part of the New Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), launched in 2023, which aims to boost Brazil’s economic and social development through infrastructure investments in partnership with states, municipalities, the private sector, and civil society.
Piauí at the Forefront of the Brazilian Renewable Matrix
According to data from the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) and the associations ABSOLAR and ABEEólica, Piauí is the national leader in the participation of renewable sources in the electrical matrix. Furthermore, it ranks 3rd in centralized solar energy production in 2025 and also in wind energy generation in 2023.
These figures demonstrate the state’s commitment to sustainability and decarbonization of the economy, strengthening its prominent position on the national energy map.
Piauí’s leadership in renewable energy is not limited to the Panorama Complex. In early 2025, the state government, through Investe Piauí, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Coensa Construções Planejadas Ltda. and Prosolar Geradora de Energia Solar SPE Ltda. to build a new photovoltaic complex.
The project, planned for Fazenda São Dimas, will encompass the municipalities of Manoel Emídio, Sebastião Leal, and Bertolínia. The expectation is to generate 3,500 direct jobs, boosting the local economy and reinforcing Piauí’s role as one of the largest solar energy hubs in Brazil.
