The proposal was submitted to the Board of Directors of AES Tietê, which will have 60 days to respond. The operation is characterized by its installed capacity, totaling 6.4 GW by the year 2024.
According to the CEO of Eneva, Pedro Zinner, “The two companies have complementary portfolios. The combination of Eneva’s assets with those of AES Tietê would result in a diversified and balanced platform of essential assets to meet growth and energy demand in Brazil. The combined company would encompass all the necessary competencies for the development of new competitive projects that serve the market.”
With the merger position, depending on the request, it will bring to the market a new well-diversified company: 43% thermal, 41% hydroelectric, 11% wind, and 5% solar. The proposal still depends on several factors, such as the approval of shareholders from both companies, the endorsement of CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense), and Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency).
What remains is to wait for this possible merger and a significant change in Brazil’s energy market.
