Occurrence of Fire in the Naval Sector Requires Action in Industrial Operations of the Region
On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 4:30 PM, a fire outbreak was reported on a vessel docked at the Camorim Shipyard, on Ilha da Conceição, in Niterói. Military units from different locations were mobilized, including the barracks in Niterói, Charitas, São Gonçalo, Guadalupe, Teresópolis, and São Cristóvão. The official note regarding the incident extended until the morning of Monday, May 19. During the firefighting efforts, smoke was visible in several parts of the city, such as BR-101 and the Rio-Niterói Bridge, as reported by the Diário do Rio.
Technological Resources and Operational Logistics Were Employed in the Action
The operation involved the use of specific equipment for industrial emergencies. The Hazardous Materials Operations Group (GOPP) acted preventively, aiming to reduce risks and prevent the spread of harmful substances. The teams involved carried out the action following the protocols established for this type of occurrence, focusing on minimizing structural damage and ensuring safety.
Investigation into the Causes of the Fire at the Niterói Shipyard Is Still Underway
So far, the responsible authorities have not confirmed the presence of flammable agents at the site. The technical examination is still assessing the scenario. The Fire Department reported that, although the fire caused concern, fortunately, there were no injuries, which thus reduced the severity. The conclusions of the report should guide the adoption of corrective and preventive measures, especially in industrial facilities with fire risk.

The facility features a Private Terminal, in addition to having 150 meters of linear dock and nine specialized technical workshops. Furthermore, it operates continuously, ensuring efficiency. Thus, the shipyard builds and maintains vessels with technical excellence. For this reason, it directly integrates the production chain of the naval industry in the state of Rio de Janeiro, further strengthening the sector.
